Welcome to the blogging community Gail.

Like yours my husband Ray has had multiple strokes, one in 1990 then back to work after six months off, two majors in 1999, forcing us both into early retirement, one in 2001, one May last year. He is left side affected, walks with a cane, has some dementia, swallowing issues etc.

I've been a full time caregiver for going on for seven years.

Tra,la,la,la life goes on.

Gail,

For someone who has never kept a diary, you are a natural born writer, and very good at sharing your innermost thoughts which is where the therapeutic value of blogging comes in. I can really relate to the descriptions of your thought processes during the time of your husband's stroke. Welcome to our blog community! We are the best kept secret of the Strokenet message board.

Another welcome to the Blog community. Well, needless to say, you have had a very full plate in a short period of time. Your M-I-L, your grandson, now your dear husband again. Thank God you were a driver, some wives don't.

I was home alone had a brain bleed at 11am, my left arm, elbow went numb, I stood up from my computer and fell away from the phone twice. Passed out aparently, my wife came home, found me and called 911. I got to the hospital about 4pm. Lots of damage by that time.

Lets hope and pray no more strokes for Ed or me. Some survivors do quite a bit of recovering, what I've learned here is, it depends on the amount of damage. There are lots of questions that only time can answer. Right now surviving the stroke, being alive gives us a chance to get back some of what we lost.

I suppose I won't put up or take down any more Christmas lights, nor change light bulbs or clean out the fireplace again soon. So my thoughts are to be around for many more January's, just not like the one in 2004. I'm glad you are taking an active roll in learning about strokes and caregiving from the many experiences here. Take care of yourself.

Sue,

"Tra,la,la,la life goes on" - I like that. :D Of of my sons-in-law says, "It is what it is....move on". Yes, must keep going, right?

Jean - many thanks for your kind words. I especially appreciate them because my MS "blanks" in my brain often hide the words I want from me right when I'm searching for them.

Between reading posts and blogs and starting my own blog, I find I'm ever eager for more computer time! Mustn't take it at Ed's expense, of course, but I love having something to look forward to. I might try the live chat sometime tho' I've never done anything like that.

Fred,

Yes, I do hope and pray for no more strokes for you or Ed or anybody else. Your experience was awful - to lay there without help for so many hours.....dear, me. I'm so grateful you have made the progress you have.

To many more Januarys for you and Ed and all of us!

Gail
