Oscar Night and shoes ... mostley shoes

As you know, I live vicariously through ALL the awards shows --- wanting the dresses ---but, looking at the shoes and handbags with lust in my eyes.

It's probably really sick (Sandy, your insight here is appreciated) - longing for .... not the "10 minutes of fame" but, the opportunity to wear a pair of Dolce and Gabbana's or Jimmy Choo's again.

I threw out a huge box of shoes this weekend --- (don't worry - they are going to the Salvation Army) --- because I know I'd never wear them again.

Why do you think the ability to wear high heels is such a big deal to me? It's not like a shoe fetish -where you buy them even if you can't wear them.....

Even my favorite's went to the box ...."the never-never land for dreams that won't come true."

I'm sick of flat shoes with scuff marks in odd places! I want to wear a 3" heel in a fashionable color, even if it's from kmart! ...... Hell, I'd settle for 1 1/2" heel.

Isn't it ridiculous to feel less like a woman because you can't wear a "method of torture" on your feet???

Isn't it stupid to make a lousy pair of shoes such a BIG deal?

I'm going to watch the Oscar's on Sunday and I haven't seen a movie since the stoke. I'm watching to dream about the shoes - - - -

Hey girlfriend,

I'm with ya on being puzzled with the shoe thing. I hardly ever wore heels pre stroke cause I couldn't walk in them without twisting an ankle, but I do know the feeling of lust and longing regarding shoes. Extravagent or not, shoes are a girl thing. BTW, did you get rid of the red stilletto heels too?

Wasn't it a wierd feeling getting rid of your shoes? Did you cry? I cried.

Oh yes, I too want something I can never have.. slinky sexy shoes.

I miss them and my authoritative clicking sound they would make when I walked in the kitchen. Now, I wear low/no heels and how sexy are those?*frown*

WE would have to make this transition one day down the road, just never thought it would be so soon. I donated all of my old shoes recently, and almost cried in pain. I now own 4 pairs of shoes. :yikes: 2 slip on tennis shoes and one pair of Faded Glory SAS look-a-likes, and some white thong sandals from my pre stroke days. At least my heart isn't the only one crying out for youthful footwear.

I want pretty patterns, spring colours, a choice of heels, strappy sandals and jewl-encrusted slip-ons. And what every girl wants for winter - slinky boots, prefrrably patent leather or crocodile skin.

Pushing the wheelchair you have to wear flats for safety and comfort as you often "do hills" getting to places like specialists rooms with NO parking. And being on a pension does not make expensive choices feaisble so it is Kmart style too.

Hope they have shoe cam on Oscars night.

Sue, Amy and Pam,

Disturbed as I may be --- I kept the red stilletto's and the knee high brown leather boots.

I justify it by thinking no poor person would wear them unless they were truly a "working girl". So, I'm doing my part to save society :giggle:

And I cried when I threw out the faux "alligator" pumps, and the strappy sandals.

I even mourned the shoes that didn't fit quite right and hurt to wear ... :(

I'm glad you all are as maladjusted as I am!

Here's to shoe cams :cocktail:

There is nothing wrong with keeping a favorite pair of shoes as a memory. Before we had to move because of Don's stroke, I had a complete outfit including purses, shoes and hat to represent 5 different decades of my life. They were all outfits I loved and kept them just for the memories that went with looking at them. Fortunately, they became old enough that a local museum wanted them!!! It was a fluke that an employee happened on me when I was upset over not being about to hold on to them any longer. Now I can visit them. :D
