I really have nothing to blog about - but, J's watching some boring golf thing that I want to avoid!

Anyway - some of you know I write a monthly column for an industry publication called "Recognition Pro".

This month I was really in a bad mood when I wrote my column - but, it turned out kind of funny. You don't have to read any further, because " It's my blog and I'll blog what I want to" (sing that to the Patti Page song "It's my party and I'll cry if I want to" just for kicks) --- anyway, here's my column ...

 

Is There A Doctor In The House?

 

We've hired a new salesperson, and now we're suffering through the disease known as "toocoolitis", that's when they discover all the cool products in our industry. "Oh my gosh, I can sell cat food can covers to Friskies!"

WHEN I WAS IN SALES AND MARKETING FOR A PUBLISHING COMPANY BACK IN THE EIGHTIES, THE FUNNEST THING TO WATCH AND MAKE ALL OF US " TOP PRODUCERS" LAUGH, WAS MOST OF WHAT YOU JUST MENTIONED.

 

THEY "JUMP" IN THERE WITH ALL THESE HIGH HOPES AND IDEAS, BUT HAVE LITTLE OR NO PRODUCT KNOWLEDGE( DUH, GOTTA HAVE THAT TO SELL) NO KNOWLEDGE OF CLIENTS' NEEDS, NO KNOWLEDGE OF WHAT THEIR COMPANY CAN OR CAN'T DO, AND FURTHER MORE**** TAKE NO STEPS TO FIND OUT*****!!!!!

 

 

THE ABSOLUTE WORST THOUGH IS THE LACK OF DESIRE, SKILL, OR LAZINESS TO ACTULLY****CALL******** ON THE CLIENT??? IS THIS A NEW SALEMANSHIP CONCEPT? YOU CAN HAVE ALL THE SAMPLES IN THE WORLD BUT IF YOU DON'T CALL ON THE CLIENT, GUESS WHAT DUMMY NEWBIE****IT WON'T SELL***************** PRODUCTS DON'T SELL THEMSELVES WHILE YOU ARE ASLEEP OR AT LUNCH.

 

GAWD THIS ANNOYS ME. LOL LOL . GOOD ARTICLE. WHAT ABOUT THE "I DONTCAREITIS" SYNDROME? THEY WANT THE COMMISIION, BUT DON'T CARE HOW THEY GET IT? WHOLE ANOTHER TOPIC. LOL
