Hello, will start by giving a brief "potted history" of our family. Myself & Trev met nearly 5 r's ago. After living together for 2r's & me completing a Social Work degree course, we got married on 6th August '05. Between us we have 4 grown up children. My son still lives at home with us. Trev's 2 daughters have 3 children between them making me a step nan to a 13yr old & 3yr old boys plus a gorgous 3yr old girl. We also have a dog, 2 kittens & 2 pet rats. We live in the lovely countryside of Derbyshire England. I attended my graduation ceremony a week after Trev suffered his stroke, he of course was unable to attend, this spoiled the occasion as he had been my rock during my time on the course.

It was in Novenber '05 that our world fell apart when Trev suffered a sever stroke leaving him paralysed on his left side, visual & cognitive problems. It has been a long 7mths of recovery & we are only just beginning to see light at the end of the tunnel.

I'm glad to see you start to blog, another way to express yourself and communicate with fellow members. We can learn a little about your part of the world.

Don't you wish there was a way we could tell a stroke is just around the corner and we could avoid it? It interupts so many lives and cause so much financial problems. Good luck to Trev at 7 months and hopefully he can continue rehab and getting better each day.

Welcome to the Blog pages Chris and take care of those little grands.

hi... your husband's case sounds a lot like my dads. he suffered a hemmorage stroke about 10 days ago, which caused him to have a blood clot around 6 cm big and he has been in a coma ever since. i was just wondering the details of your husbands case. it would do a lot to find out some information about sufferes that are like my dad's and how long it took for him to wake up etc... i dont know, i just want to find out something, seeing as the doctors just say 'wait and see'. im 15, my dad is 46... a reply would be greatly appreciated :), tess

Smiley_baby, yes it is a tough time when I loved one suffers a stroke. Fortunatly Trev never lost consiousness & has always been very aware of his surroundings etc

His recovery has been slow as he had a lot of cognative problems, which are improving slowly.

Hope your Dad improves, hang in there my luv, I'll be rooting for him
