MOVEMENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
For about 2 months, Chris has been able to pick up his affected foot about 3 inches off the floor. It is very difficult for him and he starts to slide off his chair because he puts so much effort into doing this.
Just this week he has been able to move the first finger of his affected hand. At first I thought it was a muscle or nerve twitch - but I'm not convinced that its involuntary. Any little bit of movement that he sees make him very excited and gives him more determination to keep on pushing.
On the 26th we didn't even talk about the fact that it was 2 years since his stroke - we concentrated on the fact that it was his birthday also. That evening I had prepared dinner for the family - Chris was really happy that both our children and their significant others where able to be home. After dinner we all sang "Happy Birthday," - pigged out on cake and ice-cream, laughed alot and really had a good time together. Chris thanked me I bet about 20 times for having just a small gathering for his birthday.
So this is the start of year 3 - and I am anxious to see exactly what on the affected side will start to move now.
Chris always told me that he was going to walk again - and with what I am seeing - I really wonder if he will - with all his determination.
