How I Communicate

Whenever I talk to people I'm sure of I find it helps to look away from their face so I don't get distracted.

New persons I can hardly make myself understood. I explain about the stroke, the aphasia and the apraxia,

if I can get it out and always say, "I can only talk to people who have patience." Then they pay attention because people like to feel they have patience.

When I speak to a crowd I write it out and just read it. I've only done it where I was sure of everyone. I don't think I could do it in front of a lot strangers.

The phrase, "Drop it like it's hot," is particularly hard for me to say.

You do great communicating on the computer, I find it easier also.

/some days my speech is pretty good, especially with people I am comfortable with. Other days I have problems finding the words I want.

It seems to be a lot with the comfort zone.. the conversation, and if I am tired.

I think I probably am more of my speech difficulties than other people.
