My 2nd Anniversary

Linda 315

Today marks 2 years as a stroke victim. It's been quite a trip! I still think of myself as before and after. In many ways I feel I'm a better person since...more patient, understanding, enjoying simple pleasures, yet I miss the more active person I was. I'm still adjusting to the new me. One day at a time. Strokenet definitely helped me throughout. I log on very little now but I'm forever greatful.

I am so glad that this site has helped you & as a 20 year survivor, it does get better -

Of course, I do miss the active person, I used to be, but life goes on, so should we, & I, too have found myself to be more patient - I guess, I just feel blessed, as it could have been worse -

Hope to hear from you & welcome to our website

Linda, two years is a good anniversary because by then you are usually stable and in good health. Congratulations.

Have you been able to take up any of your old activities in the last twelve months? If you have could you do a post on that as the newbies need to know that there is hope ahead as they deal with the horrible first year.

Nice to see you back on again.

Sue.

I agree that a severe illness, like a stroke will change one, making him/her more patient, but even though I miss the physical person, I used to be, I don't think that I had to have a stroke to learn this - Patience comes with age, and if II had my druthers, I'd skip the stroke and wait for age to give me patience, which I got after 4 kids, but will accept my lot in life, as is
