Bank Holidays Are So Sleepy
About time I posted. It's been an exciting week. At physio I lifted my heel while standing, seems walking is quite close now. The infected ingrown big toe nails I've had pretty well since the stroke and were so sore are finally improving dramatically. A national magazine may print my story. I'd like to think that knowing how close a shave I had (at one point life support went off thinking I'd die, and the family expecting a funeral instead saw me breathing, THAT close) might be encouraged that things really do get better and people come out the other side. Then Friday I had no water. I reached the full filter jug, found it too full to pour from the high worktops; not my height in this wheelchair. The feeling of success on carrying to a low worktop where I could pour it. Best water I had in a long time! Week rounded off my seeing Michael Schumacher beaten, doesn't get much better than that (he's my unfavourite Formula 1 driver).
And so to sweet Monday, a sleepy Bank Holiday in England. I thought I'd round off posting the lyrics to my favourite songs. I played "Behind Blue Eyes" when I couldn't move, as I have blue eyes it sums up all I had then, my eyes and "Everybody Hurts" holds special meaning, it played right after I found out chemo on my husband wasn't working (he is fine now, thankfully treatment worked in the end). Definitely relates to the struggle of stroke. Lastly an irreverant silly song that cheers me up "Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life".
The Who - Behind Blue Eyes
No one knows what it's like
To be the bad man
To be the sad man
Behind blue eyes
No one knows what it's like
To be hated
To be fated
To telling only lies
But my dreams
They aren't as empty
As my conscience seems to be
I have hours, only lonely
My love is vengeance
That's never free
No one knows what it's like
To feel these feelings
Like I do
And I blame you
No one bites back as hard
On their anger
None of my pain and woe
Can show through
But my dreams
They aren't as empty
As my conscience seems to be
I have hours, only lonely
My love is vengeance
That's never free
When my fist clenches, crack it open
Before I use it and lose my cool
When I smile, tell me some bad news
Before I laugh and act like a fool
And if I swallow anything evil
Put you're finger down my throat
And if I shiver, please give me a blanket
Keep me warm, let me wear you're coat
No one knows what it's like
To be the bad man
To be the sad man
Behind blue eyes
R.E.M. - Everybody Hurts
When your day is long and the night, the night is yours alone,
when you're sure you've had enough of this life, well hang on.
Don't let yourself go, everybody cries and everybody hurts sometimes.
Sometimes everything is wrong. Now it's time to sing along.
When your day is night alone, (hold on, hold on)
if you feel like letting go, (hold on)
when you think you've had too much of this life, well hang on.
Everybody hurts. Take comfort in your friends.
Everybody hurts. Don't throw your hand. Oh, no. Don't throw your
hand.
If you feel like you're alone, no, no, no, you are not alone
If you're on your own in this life, the days and nights are long,
when you think you've had too much of this life to hang on.
Well, everybody hurts sometimes,
everybody cries. And everybody hurts sometimes.
And everybody hurts sometimes. So, hold on, hold on.
Hold on, hold on. Hold on, hold on. Hold on, hold on. (repeat & fade)
(Everybody hurts. You are not alone.)
Monty Python - Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life
Some things in life are bad
They can really make you mad
Other things just make you swear and curse.
When you're chewing on life's gristle
Don't grumble, give a whistle
And this'll help things turn out for the best...
And...always look on the bright side of life...
Always look on the light side of life...
If life seems jolly rotten
There's something you've forgotten
And that's to laugh and smile and dance and sing.
When you're feeling in the dumps
Don't be silly chumps
Just purse your lips and whistle - that's the thing.
And...always look on the bright side of life...
Always look on the light side of life...
For life is quite absurd
And death's the final word
You must always face the curtain with a bow.
Forget about your sin - give the audience a grin
Enjoy it - it's your last chance anyhow.
So always look on the bright side of death
Just before you draw your terminal breath
Life's a piece of ****
When you look at it
Life's a laugh and death's a joke, it's true.
You'll see it's all a show
Keep 'em laughing as you go
Just remember that the last laugh is on you.
And always look on the bright side of life...
Always look on the right side of life...
(Come on guys, cheer up!)
Always look on the bright side of life...
Always look on the bright side of life...
(Worse things happen at sea, you know.)
Always look on the bright side of life...
(I mean - what have you got to lose?)
(You know, you come from nothing - you're going back to nothing.
What have you lost? Nothing!)
Always look on the right side of life...
