Recent Stem Cell Therapy

Hello. My name is Ted and I am writing on behalf of my partner Keith. We have just returned today 11/3/06 f having had stem cell therapy in Mexico. Keiths stroke took place in June of 2003. His right extremities have been paralyzed and he has aphasia. He is not able to speak other than a very few words.

It has been our belief that stem cell therapy offered our best hope of achieving some kind of recognizable improvement.

Keith and I first learned of the possibilities of stem cell here on the Strokenet in an article about Ian Mcbride who underwent stemcell in Kiev. I obtained his e-mail and he advised me who to contact at Stem Cell Therapy International. From that point I was given instruction on all that was necessary in order to be considered. In the mean- time another member of Strokenet with whom many members are already familiar Richs blog, underwent stem cell therapy. Rich provided invaluable information about his journey and his progress.

As I mentioned earlier in our blog, Keith and I just arrived home today in the wee hours of the morning and are as yet in jet lag, but I felt it important to begin posting as soon as possible for those who may be interested. :Clap-Hands:

Thanks to everyone for the welcome. Initially I had applied to Kiev but we were told that a different application of stem cell would be necessary to be affective for Keith. SCTI then recommended a Clinic in Mexico that could help us. We are due to return in approximately 6 months at which time a spinal injection would be administered which enables the cells to enter directly into the affected area of the brain.

Over the past few days Keiths seems much more chipper than he has been. It is a welcome cahnge. We are doing range of motion each eveing and a young lady comes to the house 3 times each week to assist with OT. Presently we are taking things one day at a time with the intention of adding more to his regimen.

Hello everyone. Well, another week has passed and things seem to be going well. Keith has began using more words over the past week than ever before. No complete sentences but anything new to the vocabulary is cause for celebration. We have been experimenting with walking without the leg brace. He has done well with short distances thus far. I hope to gradually extend the length of walking in the weeks to come. Had a problem with a toe infection but that is put in check with visit to recent visit to GP. Keith is still having confusion and bouts of ill temperment. I could mean that we should now be changing his depression medications. We will speak with his prescribing physician this week to find out what might be done. But, all in all, I feel that he is making progress tho very gradual.
