A Bit Of Excitement Last Night

We were spared the snow that we were predicted to get. Instead of the 6-12", we ended up with mostly rain, and then later in the evening around 2" of snow.

About 1030 pm, the fire trucks and ambulance came down the street to one of our neighbors. The guy was having a heart-attack on a really crummy night. The big firetruck left first, but when the ambulance tried to get out of the street, (we're on a slight hill) it got stuck and couldn't get moving with all the slush and ice. Three of us were busting butt trying to dig it out to where it could get enough traction to get going. We went at it for about 30 minutes when another of the neighbors came in with his 4WD and a tow strap. He was able to pull the ambulance up to the top of the hill onto the dry pavement. The man is OK, should be home this week. Scary stuff. Glad he's going to be fine.

That's a terrible and stressful thing for your neighbor's family to go through!!! Didn't anyone on the street have a cat? Up here in Michigan we use kitty litter to get traction on ice. Glad he's going t be okay.

I've got about 8 inches that I have to go shovel right now.

I have 2 cats and used all the kitty litter I had. Dumped 2 bags of sand, and all the ice melter we had. That road was SLICK!! He'd move forward a foot or two, and we had to start over again. It was frustrating, but we were pumped. Thank God Bud showed up with the truck. Rex is OK, and should be home on tuesday. We have a little "family" on this street, and we pull together when things happen. We all know each other, and we keep track of things. I can count on them to help me out, and I'll do whatever needs to be done to take care of them. Kind of strange in these times, but it's the way it should be.

That's a good kind of street to live on. Comforting to know if you ever need help.

That must have been some ice storm and rain storm you had!!
