jon!!!!...great to hear from you!!!!...yup i'm heading home on october 1!!!!...can not wait!!!!

i do have a bone to pick with you...i beg to differ on my 'drastic turnaround' regarding ruth lycke's china connection...i entered the program with a positive frame of mind of course...i was receiving acupuncture in nyc prior to my stroke and pursued it all the more vigorously afterwards...the comprehensive daily tcm care i received in tianjin is not available anywhere in the usa...i'll bet my buttons if it were the cost would be prohibitive, and none of it would be covered by insurance companies...i did endeavor to parse my words carefully as i discovered where the bodies were buried so to speak because i didn't want to turn people off to the value of tcm in stroke rehab... that said, after seeing the outright lies recently added to china connection's website plus learning in the last two weeks that no one i contacted received their refunds, these were people who left the hospital months before i did, led me to a rightfully deserved revised evaluation...china connection gives new meaning to the word disreputable...

we all need to share our experiences of what treatments are being offered to stroke survivors and to do the service of separating out people who are preying on stroke survivors in unethical, immoral ways...sadly, especially by other survivors...

the other point i'll defend that you raised is that chinese people do use western medicine all the time, yes, granted...however they all beat a path to tcm practitioners asap after a stroke...i've literally seen family members carrying their moms and dads to the tianjin hospital for acupuncture and other tcm treatments!...it's value is known and universally accepted throughout china and other parts of asia not only for stroke but for many chronic illnesses that western medicine holds no effective treatments for...

i'm planning to keep this blog open for a while in case updates of interest occur that i'd like to post...what an understatement to say what a journey it's been since my decision to go to kiev in the spring of '06!!!!...very best to all, richxxx

Hi Rich.. somehow, I missed your last entry.. Your journey abroad is almost over, Sorry some of the experiences and treatments were not what was stated or expected. I do hope for continued recovery. We all appreciate your journal and experiences, good and bad. This will help in decisions for other survivors and hopefully, they can avoid some of the areas of disreputable people to deal with.I know a couple went to Costa Rica for medical and accupuncture because the $$$$ went much farther there. It is too bad the "almighty $$$ gets in the way of a true caring and medical help for anyone. Where there is a "buck" to be made unfortunately the shysters jump right on the band wagon.Well you will be coming home to Fall here in the USA and all the wonderful crisp fall colors.I am glad you got to see the "sites" as well as fun time shopping and honing your bargening skills.Have a safe trip hope and as always wishing you the best.

hey Rich:

welcome home, I am sorry that your trip left you bad taste in mouth due to their greedyness, though we all appreciate your honesty. I am sure you helped lot of people on this site including me who will think before spending money for these kind of mediocre treatments. When I had gone to India for alternative medicine I viewed my trip as sightseeing and family meeting adventure, & when it helped reducing my pain that was added bonus.

great to hear from you both...b & a!...yes i am looking forward to h o m e!!!!...tiantan puhua was such a disappointment because i saw with my own eyes other patients in the hospital with alzheimers, parkinsons, CP, and spinal cord injuries experience appreciable results after their cell injections...this treatment still holds promise for stroke survivors...it's a matter of time, research to discover paths to better results for people like us...

my connection with the acupuncturist specializing in stroke fell through...he moved and my contact has no further recommendation...so my work here is 100% done...i've done all i could and then some...it's a sunny cool bright fall day here...i'm going to go out, enjoy it and give genuine thanks that i'm alive...life is precious...best to all, richxxx

Rich: would you be willing to give us a 2 year progress note? Where are you physically 2 years after Kiev, what was the final cost, and do you think it was worth the expense?
