It's All Good

It's so nice to have a good week. My mantra of "just for today" serves me well. I've learned to take each day as a gift. What is the saying? Yesterday is gone, tomorrow may not come, today is a gift - that's why it's called 'the present'.

I just posted a picture of the exterior of the house. It isn't great since it was taken before the rubbish had been removed, but I'd been meaning to do it for weeks and couldn't wait any longer! Yesterday we took Bill's mom out to see it. I wanted to wait until there was something to see and were we ever surprised when we got there. The electricians, plumbers and finish carpenters were ALL busy. I think there must have been at least 10 men, maybe more working. They all had their jobs and it wasn't a bit chaotic. When we walked in the vinyl was down in the laundry and bathrooms. In the garage were the kitchen appliances. We purchased our refrigerator ourselves so that won't come until we take possession of the house. The light fixtures were up in the breakfast area and dining room. They were putting the fixtures on the kitchen sink that had been installed earlier in the day. Our bathroom was finished....fans were going up in the sun room, great room and our bedroom.........It was just amazing. I think by the end of yesterday and probably today at the latest they will be ready for the wood floors, then will come the carpet and it will be done...... I just am amazed. Tomorrow I'm meeting the blinds installers there to measure the windows. I'm real optimistic we will be able to close the end of June. I can almost imagine a walk through around my birthday - the 8th of June - wouldn't that be an awesome birthday present?????

Bill has been doing well this week. He hasn't been sleeping as much and has been picking up on the cute stories I read him that I receive in my email. Yesterday he even commented on a story he'd heard on the news. That was exceptional because it required him comprehending a news item, thinking about it and reviewing the topic with me. I think we take for granted sometimes all the steps required in that action.

Last night I was looking on the Home Shopping Network at a Bis sell floor steam cleaner. Most of the comments were really positive, but there were a few REAL negative comments. I sure wouldn't want to mess up my wood floor by using it, but it looked so great. Has any body you know ever used one? It's specially made for hard floors and uses steam to clean rather than a cleaner - "green" don't you know!

That's it for today. I hope you all have a great Memorial Day week-end. This is Bill's special holiday. He takes it very seriously since he nearly lost his life in Vietnam and has certainly born the mental brunt of his service in that war. So I say, don't forget to than a vet for their service to our country and us.

Ann, I haven't "been around" much so your home plans were real news to me. That is great! It must be nice to do something like this without small county hassels.

I hope I can find the picture of the place. So very exciting to have a place of your own and not have to hound and beg for everything. Kind of similar to having your loved one in a SNF or having him home.

So glad you had a good day and Bill is doing well, perhaps better than you thought.

I am going to go to the beautiful Memorial Day ceremony that is held at the city hall square. We are fortunate to have an area where residents "park" their planes in their backyards (John Travolta once lived there) and they provide a touching fly-over with the 1 man missing formation. When it is over, everyone places the carnation given to them at the eternal flame. I will remember Bill and thank him along in my memory when I think a few thoughts when placing my carnation.

Ann,

The house is fantastic. It will be sooooooooooooooo nice for you and Bill. It would be great to do the walkthrough around your birthday.

I'm glad dear Bill has had a good week. You're so right dear and I never really thought about it - today is present. We don't know what tomorrow will bring. Hope it brings you and Bill many many more presents.

Wishing you and Bill and pleasant and peaceful Memorial Day weekend, which, thanks to our armed forces, we are able to celebrate and remember them for what they have given up for us.

(((hugs)))

Ann, hope you have a guest room waiting for us. I am sure you will have visitors in that beautiful home. And Bill will get used to it once his familiar armchair etc is there.

You are to be congratulated for having the courage to do this. I'd like to move one day but don't think I would have the courage to start from scratch. More power to you!

Anne,

Very nice!!! You can run but you can't hide dearie Lot and block front and center was a big mistake...so when do we close and move in??? Feel free to decorate my room as you like I'm not picky. This might be a good time to begin to pray for patience.

I don't know about the Bissel, but stay away from the Hoover. I had one it was absolutely worthless.

End of June....I'd better get packing

Love you,

Me
