back on the bike

shoulder is much better so after no pain for 2 weeks better get back on the bike, especially since I signed up to do the Livestrong Challenge in Philly w/ my old riding buddy! we both agreeded that 100 would be stupid, so we settled on 60 miles.... have until Aug 23 to get strong again.

on saturday got up early (for me and was on the road by 8:10) riding to a friend's neighborhood so I could watch their kids swim in the swim meet. it was only 8.5 miles and one decent hill away. Made it w/ no problem. no pain in the shoulder, but i can tell i need to get it stronger.

wan't too worn out when I arrived, but after walking around and seeing all these people I know but can't remember their names...fatigue quickly set in. good thing the plan was to have my friend drive me back home.

road 10 miles on Monday w/ my roommate...I think she was thrilled that she was ahead of me the entire ride. averaged 11 mph...not too bad, not the 14.6 i was doing BS (before stroke) but it leaves room for improvement...

good thing is my friend in Philly was complaining more than me about her weekend ride and she didn't have a stroke!

I figure i can break the 60 miles into 4 15 mile rides and be ok...especially since i'll be training in 90+ weather and it shouldn't be that hot in philly...but you never know!

feels great to be back on the bike and to have a goal to work for.
