At the lake

One time I went with a girlriend to her cottage. She took me for a ride on her peddleboat. I really enjoy the water. I love boats but I have a hard time getting on and off. So that day when we came back to shore, actually just before getting to the beach, I threw myself out of the boat. It was a nice day and I wanted to go swimming anywaybut I almost gave my friend a heart attack. After checking that I was ok, that I hadn't fallen out, she realized I had done it on purpose and we both started laughing. It was hilarious. Funny, she never trusted me after that. Another time, I was at the Boy Scout camp, Afew of the adults and I decided to go for a canoe ride. So funny, they took precautions with me, made sure I was in the middle of the canoe with someone in front of me and another in the back of me. They didn't know I could still swim post stroke so yes, again I fell out of the canoe on purpose. One of my co-couselors didn't think this was very funny but when she saw that I was laughing and so were the others, she came around and laughed too. She said I was crazy and made me promess I wouldn't scare her that way again. Anyways, it makes good souvenirs and we still laugh about it when we meet.

You are proving for sure that life DOES go on after stroke. Bless You!!!
Hi! for me its a state of mind, even today at 54. If you want to do something, you just jump in and do it. I was never one to think, for instance, if I walk as far as I want to go, I"ll be too tired to come back. I just went and yes I was too tired to come back but I was there and had to come back so I found the strenght to come back or I took a taxi. But I had done what I wanted to do. Sometimes you can think yourself out of the pleasures. Some people might say I was compulsive but at least I can't say I'm sorry I didn't try such and such a thing. Also you have to realize I was in my 30's, I don't know if at 54 I would do everything I did then, But you are as young as you feel. Some days I am 20 and other days I am 70.
