accessories that make my life better

In the kitchen I have a dishwasher but most days not enough dirty dishes to make a load worthwhile so I have a dishrack I use to dry dishes after they are washed and rinsedAlso I have a neat device made like a triangle with teeth to open jars. I have a cutting/buttering board. This board has a little ledge on 2 sides to hold a slice of bread so I can butter it and this prevents it from running away from me. The board also has 3 stainless steel nails to help hold anthing I want to cut. Very helpful to prepare vegetables or to hold meat for slicing. Also a rocking knife so I can cut meat on my plate myself. I sometimes carry it with me when I dine out. I also have a one hand operating can opener.

In the bathroom I have a shower chair, grab bars and a non slip mat in the tub

That's pretty well it for gadgets. I have arranged the furniture so that anywhere I sit, I have a table on my right side.

A few items I used for a while but I no longer need. I had sort of a grab bar on the side of my bed to help me get out of bed. Also I had a teacart on wheels to help me serve the meals and pick up the dishes to be washed after meals. I got rid of this last item a few months ago because it had become the place to put everything in the dining room (like a junk drawer).

It is amazing the gadgets you will continue to find. There is all kinds of "stuff" out there. Every stroke is different and every survivor is an individual with specific interests. Every person finds certain things helpful. It is a great feeling to see yourself progress and no longer need specific aids.

I'll bet you will continue to find helpful things. Anything that makes life a little easier are great!

Good luck to you!!
