Yesterday, 1-20-09, I resigned from my volunteer duties at Stroke Network. I had posted the following on the message board:

Hi to my cyber family. I wanted all to hear the following from me:

I have resigned as a volunteer with Stroke Network. I have been a volunteer for close to 2 years and have loved the opportunity to serve everyone.

I will still be around, posting, blogging, and coming to chat as I still love all of you - I will be pursuing other ventures as well when ready after a needed regrouping and resting.

My topic was set invisible though. I wanted all to hear it from me.

donna i am very sorry to hear of your decision to resign. but knowing you as well as i do, i do understand your decision, i wish you well in whatever you decide to do in the future. you gave so much to this website and i for one appreciate all you did to help it run smoothly. you gave so much time here everyday. now you can spend more time with kristy and the fur babies and just relax for a change. it will do you good. i hope you continue to still be active on the site and we will see you often as time permits you to be. good luck dear and god bless you and watch over you. your friend, kimmie

I was so sad & sorry about your decision to resign. but I know in my heart that you have done whole lot for this site past few years and filled pretty big shoes. I just pray and wish that you will be able to post and blog on this site even after you reesign to pursue other ventures in your life. just know that even though you are resigning that still does not make stranger to us, so keep us posted about your life. I for one looking forward to all the scoops in your life including spring trip, which has to go through NJ

You have given an inordinate amount of time to Stroke Net and helped many folks along the way. Sometimes we need a "time out" to step back and reevaluate where it is we are heading. You deserve this time away and also an opportunity to pursue other opportunities. My hope is that whatever path you choose to follow that you stay as healthy as you are able and that you have some fun, too.

When I joined Stroke Net I connected with another survivor who had a stroke six months prior to mine. I enjoyed the postings, blogs and e-mail. When she told me that for her it was time to move on from Stroke Net, I was saddened. She no longer posted or blogged but we do keep in touch. I then realized it was her time to move on to life's next challenge and she no longer needed her daily dose of Stroke Net. I still need mine but totally respect her decision. I learned and continue to learn a great deal from her.

I wish you well, friend, and know you will keep us posted as you are able. My best.

Donna, I just read your news and I am very sad to learn of your stepping down .... I know you must have thought things through and felt, in your heart, this is what is needed in your life for now. It is a BIG loss for StrokeNet and you will be very hard to have someone take over where you are leaving off. You put your heart and soul in all you did here at StrokeNet. This just breaks my heart, but You know.... you have been going through a lot of trials and tribulations in your journey. I pray you can feel all our love and support going out to you. Just take things a sec at a time. I am here for you always. You have been such a BIG support to me and I appreciate everything you have done for me and all the help you have given me on this site. You are a wonderful teacher. I love you and I am going to miss you. I bet Steve is at a loss of words learning of your decision. It is going to be hard to find someone to fill your shoes. You multitasked so much and were one of the indidivuals who kept it going so smoothly. I know you must be with your Steelers but after the SuperBowl you will join us again. :) Give your fur babies and Kristie my best. God Bless. Love, Jan

I am at such a loss of words and you know that doesn't happen very often for me.

Thank you for all your help in getting me started here. You are the Best. We will all miss you and hope to see you in chat or your posts.

Hi Donna

Read your post about your resignation and I as others have already expressed, express my heartfelt thanks and assurance that I will miss you in that capacity. I also want to wish you every success in your future projects.

I know from my own experience that there is a time to move on and meet new challenges.

I do look forward to reading your blog posts and hearing from you on occasion.

Strokenet is such a valuable tool in our recoveries but as with other parts of our recovery therapies we need new and different challenges to continue moving forward on our road to a full recovery.

May your road be smoothly paved with great experiences and lots of sign posts to keep you on the right path.

Smiles :)

Gary

I was sorry to hear that you had resigned. I know you had a lot on your plate. It took be so long to reply here, that it looks like I'm too late. I heard you flunked retirement as well. I am happy to say welcome back Donna. The site isn't the same without you. Hope you had time to rest. Take care,
