She WANTS To WALK!!!

Sam is DETERMINED to WALK again. She's been working at it for the last few weeks. Got her standing in a walker by herself. The trouble is balance. She has the strength to get up, but when she does, she can't stay up for long. She's working hard, though, and I think she might just do it.

Got us a "new" boat. Guy gave us a little 14' aluminum boat that needs a lot of work. When I get done with it, it's going to be great fishing tool. She loves catfishing and this will be the thing we need. I'm going to build a "handicapable" machine.

Our little dog is coming along. What a hoot!!! He started listening now, not scared of people. GEE!!! What a concept!! Give him a stable home and he turns out OK. Trouble is, he "burrows" under blankets to sleep and we can't find him. One night I was sleeping and he crawled up into my shirt. Some things you're just not ready for at 2 AM.

Wow, give Sam a hug from me, I am so proud of her. With determination she may be able to reach her goal and walk again. Have you read Aussie Ken's blog? He has finally overcome the balance problem but it has taken many months of hard work to do it.

The boat sounds good for a fishing expedition. My Ray was a Fisheries Officer for 14 years so we had endless adventures in boats. He did buy a boat when he left that job but it fell into disrepair and eventually, after the third stroke, I disposed of it. It was sad though when I realised all that was in the past for us.

Gotta love that dog of yours. Seek warmth, ignore the consequences!

Good fishing my friend.

Sue.

When I was first learning to walk again I had both balance and strength problems. I took steps and added 10 every day until it made more sense to watch distance. It could be she needs to add less than 10 steps a day. The idea being to get comfortable with the distance and then add more. I also used to stationary bike. At first I could only go 10 rpm for 5 minutes. But, I worked up to more. I found having a system and a scheduled to time to work at it really helped.

Good luck Sam!

That's wonderful news for Sam. Please relay all of our cheers :Clap-Hands: :Clap-Hands: :Clap-Hands: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: to her.

The boat sounds super. I've never been interested in fishing per say but being on the water I love.

Your dog has the right idea - keeping warm though at 2 in the morning is bad timing lol. Our one cat has taken to sleeping in my bed of late. I have a king size bed all to myself but where does she sleep? You got it, smack up against me so I can't move.

Sam has it in her to walk. But have her change want for I will. Words are powerful. Being

mindful of her positive words equals she can walk. I'm so proud of Sam's progress.
