Lisa,

Welcome t the blog community. I agree, our lives are definitely based on balancing. I also have a child at home. My daughter was 12 when stroke smacked into me - she's now 16 - will be 17 in August.

Donna,

Thanks for the welcome. Do go through times of setting aside your recovery to be a Mom too?

Hi Lisa,

As an "outsider looking in", it seems as though you have a very good understanding of where your balancing issues lie and even though you might not know (yet) exactly how you're going to resolve them you're approaching them with the right "heart attitude" and I know you'll be fine. Your daughters are blessed to have a mom as conscientious as you.

My memory has a nasty habit of leaving me stranded since my stroke, but I know that not very long ago a very wise individual told me that as far as goals are concerned the sky is the limit but "we need to learn to taxi before we can fly". Sound familiar? Oh yeah! It was you! :) I know you've been at it for two years which can sometimes feel like an eternity to us, but that's not necessarily the same with God. As we all know, He has His own timetable.

I like the tightrope analogy in your devotional, you really are involved in a balancing act! It made me think of another story, too--the story of Peter walking on water. Peter didn't just fly out of the boat into the water, he waited for Jesus to call him. Take heart in this because that's what you're doing, too, by asking God to order your day before you get started. Peter started to sink when his focus shifted to the wind and the waves and that's the point in the tightrope analogy, too--keeping your focus directly on that narrow rope, the path He'll put in front of you every day.

As I said, you may not yet know precisely where He'll lead you every day (who does?) but by approaching it as you are, I have every confidence that things will work out great for all of you!

How exciting that your daughter's graduating, too, Mom! That's a huge milestone and I'm sure you're very proud of her!
