clinical study at TIRR

Well, I am trying to get William into a clincal study to improve his walking. This is at TIRR in

Houston,TExas. I have set a preliminary visit for next week. They will evaluate WIlliam to assess if

he is a candidate for their study. This study is divided into two sections. One section will use

standard PT the other will use robotics. I have decided that either section will be good for William.

Yes, I would like to try the robotic one. But, hey, this is free therapy.

I , Ruth, just had my colonoscopy this morning. Yes, thank you, everything was fine. I had to be

at the hospital at 6AM. I left William at home. He slept until I got back. He was so nervous for me

that he woke me up at 5AM. I was so tired that once they put me under I was out for the count.

So, today, I have the day off. I will be taking William to the pool at 1PM. Then we need to figure

out something good for lunch.

You wouldn't believe it. But, yesterday William wanted dinner. I can't eat and he wants dinner.

I had the cleanser for the colon for my dinner. It was not good. I kept trying to dring it until

midnight. I finally had to quit. I couldn't even make myself drink half of the little bottle. Last, time

I had a full liter and managed to drink the entire jug. This time is made me nauseaous. But,

fortunately the amount that I drank worked.

I will keep you updated on the clinical trial. I am excited for William

Ruth, glad all is well in your case, they kept me alert watching the camera when I had mine. I call those folks and still waiting on them to call me back. Perhaps they got so many and closed it off.

Ruth, that sounds great about the clinical study and William. I did one for three months three times a week around 6 months after my stroke. I consider it the best thing I ever did in terms of stroke recovery. It was for walking and the PT was strigent. I did it on my days off and for many months after the study ended.

I will be anxious to hear how it goes and which study he gets on.

Glad your colonoscopy went well. The test itself isn't bad...it's just getting ready for it the day before when you need to drink the liquids (ugh).

Ruth, I got my return call from them Friday. I can't make all the sessions plus the follow ups so I don't qualify. You have to (must) attend each session. I go for 8 weeks, I would miss my VA appointments, I can't do that! Plus she said I don't require a person to assist me in walking and that is what I would learn to do in the clinic.
