About Me

I have been deaf since birth, raised in the hearing world, learned how to speak without being taught any sign language, and had chronic depression since I was 20 years old. I had been in college for a year and a half studying biology. I had a brain lesion less than a month before my 34th birthday, which was later shrank and revealed two tiny strokes next to each other. I recovered almost fully, only to be left with mounting medical issues like Meniere's Disease, hypothyroidism, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia, and possible oncoming diabetes. Other than the physical consequences, my mental health was deeply affected, which put me into a deeper depression than ever before. Thanks to the VNS Therapy medical implant, my depression is managed better. This is my story of survival and I hope to be able to enjoy life at the fullest. beer.gif
