Play tennis, volunteer with Delaware Valley Stroke Council. My first stroke occurred May 26, 02, secondary to a carotid dissection a year after I was hit in the neck with a tennis ball. I have most functional abilities, but some weakness on left side, pain on left side, fatigue. Try to get back to work (public relations/corporate communications. Previous employer fired me,although I was able to do my job. (It was a lousy place to work, anyway.) My husband, Gary, has been a saint through everything. He was the one who realized I was having a stroke and called 911.

  5. I am no longer Jean, Jean the dancing machine. But it is slowly coming back. Keep at it . You never know. I did dance at a benefit recently, so I did not go home and cry. Actually, I did cry openly at a party when I found I could not dance like I used to.
  6. Janice, Janice, Janice.... that so-called holiday spirit is a marketing gimmick so you are smart not to succumb. What you contribute to your marriage is you -- your existence and your presence in your husband's life. It's not what you do but who you are. Get out of the pit and stand up there on top where you belong. We have very little $ since we are both out of work. For Xmas we are buying ourselves a joint gift - a new 2-line phone for our kitchen. (The old one conked out.) Not very romantic, but a necessity and it is what we both would like. Jean
