  5. Darlene - Than you for your story. It sounds like you are doing really well. I know for me, a stroke survivor, this organization has been a Godsend. The people on here are terrific and the chatrooms are very informative. Than you for your story Memory

  6. I am very happy you are here today :) God blessed you! Memory

  7. I take Cymbalta-it is for depression but it is also for the numbness and neuropathic pain in my left side and it works great for me. I've been on it for 6 years now. Kris - I hope this suggestion helps! Memory

  8. Darry-I can totally relate to your situation. SSI turned me down several times before finally accepting me but I did get back pay from the time of my brain injury. Local Churches can help you with food and your utilitiy bills and sometimes rent. Good luck! I'll keep you in my prayers. Memory

  9. I am glad to have you here as well! I was 32 when I had my strokes due to a blood clot in the brain in 2002. This website has helped me greatly as I know it can for you! Memory

  10. It is normal to feel this way. I can say for myself that I miss my old me and that true independence that I once had. But you do have 4 great kids that can help you to the beach and make a family day of it. You are a miracle of life! Take charge of the things you are wanting to do again, but you just may have to do them with company sometimes and maybe not. You are not a whiner-just human. Mem

  11. Since my 3 hemorrhagic strokes in 2002 at the age of 32 while having a blood clot removed from my brain, I now experience a loss of words from time to time, memory loss, and epilepsy to name a few of the many residuals I have now. The eplilepsy came on a few years later and was quite scary. While the memory loss and speech problems have just been embarassing and a nuisance at times. Grabbing for

  12. It's hars to know for certain whether or not sge is understanding what you are saying, but for her sake and the of her getting better I would say be optimistic and believe she does know what you are saying. Talk to her in a way you normally would so she could understand you. Have faith and believe that she will get better! Memory

  13. You are a success and I am thrilled to know about your achievements!!! Memory

  14. Denial is a common emotion of many that you may experiece. I went through sadness, anger, denial, fear, then acceptance. It's kind of like you have lost a loved one and you have to go through the grieving process. We are all here to help you with that. You've lost part of you that doesn't work the same anymorebut now it's time to find ways around that and rebuild the new you!

  15. You are a beautiful person! Now it's time to learn what this new you can do!I felt the exact way you do now and it took awhile to get over but you must find new ways to love and hold your husband and you do have his love-grab it and talk to him. Make a special date night once a week, were you both are lovers and friends. Memory
