Christmas for Larry and Julie

Larry's friend came for a visit starting last Thursday. He is one of Larry's friends and co-workers who show up on a regular basis. He lives further away now, but still works part time and comes when he visits his daughter and family. We both enjoy seeing him.

Friday my daughter came in from Michigan. She is a big help to me and I miss seeing her more. It is so hard to talk via phone or E-Mails as she is always on the go or busy with her boyfriend. My son came over Christmas Eve and the four of us went to a Christmas Eve service at our church. It was a wonderful service and the choir sings so beautifully. Even my kids were impressed! My kids fixed us dinner and we exchanged presents. Larry enjoyed this all.

Sunday Larry's kids and their families came over including our two grandchildren 4 and 12. They each bring something so it is not so much for me to do. I had been to the store at least 4 times but still forgot something at the last minute. Needless to say, we had enough to eat. The little 4 year old, Rachel, must of had too much sugar as she went into running yelling act. :yikes: My son took her outside and played tag with her and she finally calmed down. This is why we are happy to see them and happy to see them go home, "but do come back". lol

We had a nice dinner and then exchanged gifts. I asked our older granddaughter to sing for us as we couldn't go to their church's late service to hear her. She agreed and sang two versus of Silent Night that she sang for her church service. She is very talented and is active in dancing as well. My son brought his girlfriend and everyone enjoyed meeting her. This was kind of last minute but it all worked out.

Larry did well in staying up later and even played a board game with us. It was really nice to see him laugh and smile and enjoy the evening with our kids. This was a lot of extra activity for him. I had to call him 3 times to get him up the next morning.

We lucked out with the weather as it was on the warm side. I'm so happy as we were able to get around as weather was so much better than last year. We may get a little snow mixed in with the rain tomorrow but it won't stick. So happy about that as I have to take my daughter back to the airport tomorrow.

I wish you all a safe, happy and healty New Year. :yay:

Julie

Julie, what a great Christmas weekend, your kids, his kids, your grandkids. I think that is what Christmas is all about. And great that they brought food along too so the catering was not all on your shoulders.

Ours worked out pretty well and I was so glad four of us went to the nursing home for lunch wth Ray. Our daughter and family were only here for less than twenty four hours but at least they were here.

Every year can be different with a stroke survivor but as long as the family can still act as the support team all is well.

Sue.
