Our local community has a huge celebration with food, music and fireworks at a local mall. Thousands attend but now ours is canceled as well as other parks and areas with fireworks. The fire departments say it is too dangerous! We have record heat temps in the 3 digits for next week - first we had the hot dry heat and now with the humidity. I pity those at the ballpark last night watching the game and those playing in it. Today we have a day game and Larry and I will watch it on TV. I pray our AC does not go out!

I took Larry to his speech therapy session Friday for the swallowing problem. I parked close and then picked him up at the door later after I cooled off the car! He was apprehensive about the therapy for some reason saying several times "I hope this goes well". The therapist had him do several swallowing tests with soft and then coarser food such as macaroni and cheese. He must have swallowed a hundred times during the test. When he swallowed the mac and cheese, he had to keep swallowing until he was sure it went down. He tested himself on this by humming (or he could clear his throat). If he felt the food had not gone down, he was to hum and then swallow again. After several times of this, he started to crack up and grin saying "this is starting to get hilarious"! The therapist kept him going tho and he finally completed the testing. In the barium test, he did not realize he was holding food so this is to make him swallow it better. Larry is always cooperative but I could tell this must have been difficult too. We go back Mon. Hopefully, the therapist will be able to discharge after another week or so.
