Aphasia - thoughts still get thru

So, when my husband had his stroke in Feb, our son came home for a month. Bob reverted to calling me Mom, like we called each other (Mom / Dad) when son was home. Then he calls me Mommy (sometimes Daddy!) because of our pets. We called by name or the Mom/Dad if we are talking to the pets about something (like go sit with Daddy). So last night, after he went to bed and I was on the computer, just around the door frame from the bedroom, he calls to me "Mommy" I go in and ask what, and he says, "I'm glad to meet you".

Ahhh... that was sweet, I'm sure he was saying he was glad he met me and our lives became one.

Ha, ha, the other night, he came out with "DO YOU STILL LOVE ME!?" I threw my arms around him and said, "Yes, I love you as much as I always have". He shook his head and said meekly, "you're crazy".

Sandy: those are the moments when you realize "YES! He is still in there! I reflect on those moments for days, especially when things get testy. Gets me through those times much easier.

Little gifts! Debbie
