What a fun weekend!

Next few months are filling in fast. Bruce needs some serious dental work, at a very high cost. He had a bad root canal back when he was in college that has resulted in some serious mouth work. We tried after the stroke to just get back to regular cleanings, but to no avail.

His college roommates from New Mexico and California are coming for a couple of days in September. You all remember New Mexico's daughter just recently stroked during child birth. Good news is she is recovering well, can hold and tend to the baby by herself. Still needs help managing the two year old. Mom and Dad got home, after setting her up with plenty of help and the in-laws arriving, to Mom being side-rammed in a car accident and finally finishing up PT and ready to go back to work. She teaches special education, there are some physical issues that still need to be worked out. So it is just amazing that Steve can make the trip. His parents, also failing health-wise live within two hours of us, so his trips are always two-fold.

Bruce's childhood friend due in for an overnight in late August. Not so looking forward to that one, from my standpoint - he is a lot of work. But Bruce is looking forward to the visit.

The girls from work due Tuesday night for their dinner. I plan on doing th big box store run. They are always such a help unloading. Mary Beth due in for weekend - probably weekend after next. Carl of course on Thursdays. I have financial advisor on Wednesday for his trust.

But in the meantime, it is just Bruce and I and my wacky schedule. Like last weekend, which was low 70s and dry; I took this Friday night off - I already had my 22 hours in a work in order to get to bed early and be able to concentrate on Bruce. I was somewhat happy in the way the week went, but going out for dinner and ice cream is not good for us. But I had my list.

Weather was not so cooperative this weekend. Rain on and off. No cooking out. But I was determined. Saturday we did bank, dropped off a contribution to Big Brothers, Big Sisters and then off to Walmart. I can't tell you the last time we did this. I wanted nice little speakers for my IPod. The earplugs work well, but in work, I can't hear the overhead page. I love my co-workers, but their taste in music is tedious. Child of th 70s! Bruce needed a new razor-trimmer. My hairdresser bought me the first one - thing never worked right and finally would not take a charge. He refuses to shave left-handed, says he is afraid of causing injury and I never shaved anyone with a razor. Also I am encouraging self-image and that means wash up and clothing change into night (light-weight) clothing, so he needed some new Tshirts. Bruce then tooled off to books and I met up with a salesman on Ereaders - very educational. We were there two hours!

Today was farm market, groceries (he saved $20.00 on a $50.00 bill). Good for him! We got home and he went out on the deck between storms to tend to his flower boxes. Lunch and nap. At 1 1/2 hours in I realized that he had not done his teeth, still had grooming and shower and I still had to start dinner.

Bruce started again this morning when he was prepping his pill boxes for next week about stopping some of his medications. I will have to share that discussion at some point. But the other side of that conversation was Bruce accepting some responsibility for his recovery - again. When he again missed toiletting and his teeth brushing at noon, I got him up at 2pm and said now you move Mister.

The girls are coming for dinner Tuesday night. I will not have him looking like a hag. We did nails, beard, shave, nose. Then pop into shower and night clothes. He found a movie - I said no channel surfing and he stuck to that and actually did some reading while I prepped dinner and meals for the week.

Tomorrow is Ebike at 9am and hopefully the pool. He mentioned this week that he wanted to get back to the pool. I have work at 4pm. But it has been a really fun weekend. No upsets, we watched neighbor still taking down trees, traveled different neighborhoods remarking on the damage. He is one tired monkey tonight. And I will run him ragged tomorrow - LOL. Best I can do right now. Good week, Debbie

Debbie, you amaze me with the things you get Bruce to do. I was worn out just reading your blog. lol The weather was nice today so I told Larry I was going to run some errands - he would not go. (No Bruce here!) Jim came to help out with Larry as I had a Dr. appt. this afternoon. I waited 40 min. for the good Dr. and then ran to get prescriptions which were ready, and then grocery store. I was exhausted but I was able to get it done. I am going to get Larry to the rehab facility tomorrow to workout. I hope I can coax him to go to Target afterwards. I need to get gas but was waiting for it to lower. Ha! Tomorrow is another triple digit forecast. Enjoy your company.

Debbie,

I can just hear the conversation on lets take less meds. Wm never wants to take all of his meds. I told him that his cardiologist wants him to take the least amount of pills possible. He has dc'd many of his pills that were from the rehab place.

But, Wm wants to take vitamins. I need him to take his important pills before popping the vitamins.

Bruce is doing so well. But, it is a tiring schedule for both of you.

I know only too well how tired you can both get.

Ruth

Have fun with alll of the guests.
