Getting my groove back
One nice thing about getting food assistance is mentally really helps because I can contribute to the family again and I'm able to purchase items to make dinner.
Last week I made spaghetti sauce from scratch of course I married into an Italian family so I know the recipe I made lasagna I'm still not used to cooking for two I'm too used to cooking for 6 cuz we had 4 kids at home the Italian and she called me to tell me how wonderful it was and how excited she is that I'm getting my groove back and doing more cooking again
Thursday would have been my grandsons 3rd birthday unfortunately he passed at 5 days so my daughter always has a little memorial for him with helium balloons and everybody writes a note to baby Jack and we send them off
My wife asked me if I could stop on the way home it to pick up a few items and make chicken and dumplings cuz we're having people over with the few people that ate and raved about how good it was
Then over the weekend in a true act of selfishness I made chili I'm the only one that likes the chili
Sunday the family got together to celebrate a birthday so not having any money to buy a present for my brother in law I decided to make a batch of peanut brittle it took me awhile to perfect it but I must admit I make some pretty darn good peanut brittle
It's so nice to be back in the groove of cooking and baking what a glorious blessing to be able to make the present for someone
Be blessed be a blessing,
Jay
