Rumor Has It.... The Movie

During the holidays, when you run out of things to do, get depressed, or what ever, go to the movies. Starting christmas day in theaters everywhere, The movie, "Rumor has It," starring Jennifer Annison, is a must see.

It may shed some light on the school teachers that somehow, get involved in affairs with younger students. Ofcourse, it has another angle about family, mother, grandmother and daughter with a younger man. Plus, it gets you out of the house at a time when you can mingle with people. A theater setting can't be too bad and it's safe. Just don't leave food cooking on the stove.

I'm currently working on getting a small section of the seating areas in each of the theaters, set up to accomidate wheelchairs, powerchairs and scooters for the handicap personnel. Todays theaters has about 6 to 12 cinemas, most operated by the Hollywood cinema group.

Our city mayor was thumbs up, and got the ball rolling by talking with the military commanding general at Ft Hood to get a count on the number of soldiers being interested in such a change. With budgets and restraints, it's an up hill battle, but worthy of the need. Keeps me busy doing something good.

The city was successful in getting more handicap parking spaces allowed at our theater last year. Almost every day, all spaces are being used at every showing and there are 12 cinemas going all the time. Ask for the senior discount, if you qualify.

I think you will like King Kong, the first one was back in 1936, but it's 3 hours long, a long time to sit still. A little pricey, catch the early shows.

Whatever you do this holiday season, be safe, if you have elderly neighbors, check on them. On the news, a couple died in a house fire, started by an unattended fireplace overnight, while they slept. Their kids live in another town.

Our local theater also is handicapped accessible. It has a row in the middle or the seats that is actually seats on the side of a very wide aisle. I don't know how many theaters are in the complex, but is a lot.

I have found that the best time to go is in the afternoon in the middle the week. There are few people so you are guaranteed a seat and no one is running into you.

Fred, it is commendable that you are doing this.

Fred, good on you for being an active advocate. Ray and I never go to the theater as he can't sit that long, we hire an occassional movie and watch it at home, but he really isn't interested.

Now he is in a wheelchair a lot of the time I avoid places that don't have disabled parking. Got myself wedged in the one and only tiny space available at the radiography place on Wednesday and had to back all the way out, ooh! It's a wonder Ray didn't go gray overnight as reversing is not my best thing.

Add my advice for Christmas shopping. If you are sitting with shopping bags in front of you watch them all, it's easy for soomeone to sit next to you and pck up the one closest to them without you noticing. A friend of mine lost a bag full of presents that way one year.

Sue.
