Medications

I started a new Blood Pressure medication yesterday. Today I am feeling a little funny. I really don't know how to describe it. I am not dizzy like I was before I had my stroke but I still feel different.

I was looking at the information sheet that the pharmacy gave me and they told me that dizziness and lightheadedness were to be expected as my body was getting adjusted to this medication.

I just have one question. Why do I have to feel dizzy and lightheaded because of a medication?

I guess we will never know the answer to that one.

I am still off work thank goodness. I don't need to be dizzy at a nuclear power plant. That would not be good. I do have a follow up MRI scheduled for Saturday morning. That should be fun.

We will see what happens.

More as time permits.

hey charles. what did they put you on?? i've been taking zestoretic since my stroke and IT TOO MADE ( and still makes me dizzy AND sleepy). it got better after a few months on it. if i take it at NIGHT, then i wake up peeing all night because of the diuretic in it, don't get enough sleep, and am sleepy all day. if i take it in the DAY, then i end up with the dizziness and sleepiness ANYWAY!!!!!!!!

AS FOR WHY DOES A MEDICATION make YOU DIZZY, ETC.....?????

what do you think about those commercials that are advertising for say, an ALLERGY relief medicine??????? SOUNDS innocuous enough. at the END comes the disclaimer.

MAY cause, dry mouth, weight gain, head ache, nausea, itching, diarrhea, constipation, certain sexual side effects, unusual hair growth, numbness, swollen tongue, acne, etc.......... THEN as ALWAYS,

THOSE WHO HAVE HAD OR WHO ARE AT RISK FOR STROKE, HEART ATTACK OR BLOD CLOTS SHOULD NOT TAKE THIS DRUG!!!!!!!!!

it's CRAAAAZZZYYYYYY!!!!!! i'd rather have the allergy!!!!

anyway, sorry you are having to suffer. seriously though, my side effects have lightened up CONSIDERABLY since i first started taking mine.

good luck

My doctor put me on a Beta Blocker called Inderal LA. It is the 80 mg strength. I was on Dyazide anyway which is a diuretic so I know what you mean about getting between me and the bathroom. Do that at your own risk.

I was looking at the side effects of this drug. You may experience dizziness, lightheadiness, drowsiness, tiredness, diarrhea, unusual dreams, trouble sleeping, or vision problems as your body adjusts to the medication. This drug may reduce blood flow to your hands and feet causing them to feel cold.Smoking may worsen this effect. Dress warmy and avoid tobacco use.

It is not too bad since I am still on medical leave right now.

How are things with you? It seems like you were pretty stressed out yesterday.

Hope your day is going well.
