SO AFTER CAREFUL CONSIDERATION. WE DECIDED AGAINST BUILDING A HOUSE BECAUSE WE WOULD BE GONE DURING THE MAJOR PART OF THE CONSTRUCTION. OFF WE WENT TO A DEL WEBB COMMUNITY BEING BUILT OUTSIDE OF CHICAGO.
THE SALES GIRL, I WILL CALL Q, WE WERE "LUCKY" TO DRAW WAS PUSHY, SCATTERBRAINED, PUSHY, LYING AND OF COURSE PUSHY. WE LOOKED A HOUSE WITH A FLOOR PLAN WE LIKED, ALREADY UP. IF WE CLOSED BY THE END OF THE YEAR, WE WOULD GET A $30,000 INCENTIVE. THERE WERE CHANGES WE WOULD MAKE, AT OUR EXPENSE, I.E.FLOORING, COUNTERTOPS, ETC. WE ASKED IF THERE WERE ANY OTHER HOMES OF SIMILAR FLOORPLANS AVAILABLE AND Q SAID NO. WE TOLD HER WE WOULD HAVE TO THINK ABOUT IT AND SHE WAS CONCERNED THAT WE WERE DRIVING BACK TO INDIANA WITHOUT MAKING A DECISION. SHE SUGGESTED WE STAY WITH OUR DAUGHTER OVERNIGHT OR RENT A MOTEL ROOM. WE CHOSE TO GO HOME.
TWO DAYS LATER WE DECIDED TO DRIVE BACK UP AND DO SOME MEASURING AND FIGURE OUT WHAT IT WOULD COST TO REDO THIS HOUSE. Q WAS OFF THAT DAY, SO THE RECEPTIONIST HAD SOMEONE ELSE LET US IN THE HOUSE. AFTER AN HOUR OF DOING OUR THING, WE DECIDED IT WASN'T WORTH TEARING UP A NEW HOUSE. WHEN I WENT TO RETURN THE KEY, GUESS WHO WAS THERE? Q!. SHE LOOKED LIKE SHE HAD JUST WOKEN UP, SLIGHTLY DISHEVELED AND CONFUSED. SOMEONE APPARENTLY CALLED TO TELL HER WE WERE THERE, AND NOT WANTING TO MISS A SALE, RUSHED IN TO DO PAPERWORK, AS SHE TOLD ME.
AFTER WE TOLD HER OF OUR DECISION, MAJICALLY A SIMILAR HOUSE WAS AVAILABLE, ALMOST COMPLETE, WITH MOST OF THE UPGRADES WE WANTED. JUST ONE CHANGE STOOD BETWEEN US...........WOOD FLOORS IN ALL ROOMS BUT THE BEDROOMS. WELL, WE HAD TO TAKE THE CARPETING AND CHANGE TO WOOD ON OUR OWN. THE CARPETING WAS TO BE GLUED DOWN, WHICH WOULD MAKE IT TOUGH TO REMOVE. I EXPLAINED I WAS WILLING TO PAY ANY COSTS RELATED TO INSTALLING THE WOOD FLOORS, BUT IT MADE NO SENSE TO PAY $3000 FOR UPGRADED NEW CARPETING I HAD TO REMOVE AND PAY $600 FOR ITS DISPOSAL. BESIDES THE CARPETING WAS NOT YET INSTALLED AND THERE WERE MANY OTHER HOMES BEING BUILT IT COULD BE USED IN.
SO WE PARTED COMPANY. A FEW DAYS LATER Q CALLED TO TELL ME THE INCENTIVE WAS UP TO$40000. I THANKED HER AND ASKED AGAIN IF I COULD GET THE WOOD FLOORS IN THAT PATICULAR HOUSE.NOPE.
I CAN HAVE ONE BUILT, WITHOUT INCENTIVES AND A $10000 PRICE INCREASE. MY WIFE HAD TO STOP ME FROM SPEEDING THERE TO BLOW $50000.
SO Q LOST HER COMMISSION ON ME, THE MONEY IS STILL IN THE BANK, AND I'M NOT LOOSING ANY SLEEP OVER THIS.
