pool tidbits

lots of good changes on the teal in the pool front:

1) the creepy guy in my class finally quit, so i feel better about being there

2) i now can not only get in and out completely on my own, without either their wheelchair or walker;but i can manage to walk in only calf deep water from the bottom of the ramp to the edge

3) after class my leg is too tired to walk in the shallower water;but if i sit and scootch to the edge on the side where the ramp is, i can actually pull myself to standing in only knee deep water - this ones big;but im still not going to get onto the flioor to see if i can do it on dry land yet, lol

4) i may still not be able to walk on land;but.... i can swim, non-lopsided, both crawl and back crawl - only can manage half a lap at a time;but still, im impressing all the pool people who remember when i couldnt even walk in the water without holding on, nor keep my left leg from floating up on its own, lol

another blow to the "no improvements after a year" thepry, lol

more later,

always,

teal

Congrats Teal!!

It may sound a little strange, but I actually find it easier to walk in deep water, the deeper the better. This is because the water buoys you up. When you are calf deep, you have a whole lot of body that is not supported by water. Try walking along the edge of the pool - with you hand on the side for support - and walk out toward the deep end. If you are afraid have someone with you to help.

lol, no, thats the whole point - ive been walking in the deeper water for a couple of years and now i can do it in the shallow - and i can do it for a bit without holding on, if i go slow - its an improvement thing :) and anyone who knows me knows water's one thing ive never been afraid of - i may not be as able as before;but i know water and can deal with it even if my body doesnt cooperate - i used to be the captain of my high school swim team, and i taught swimming, canoeing and rowing for years - id hate having someone help, the whole point is that ive found a way to do it all by myself :)
