"We Love to do Our Exercises"

I hope everyone's New Years has been good to you and your family and that it continues to do so the rest of the year.

The Holidays were busy for us. For those of you who may be curious, I have kept my family, I got some really nice gifts but that's not the reason I'm keeping them. I was considering looking for another family but I'm not, so no one need apply. Thanks.

I have been faithfully using the treadmill I have at home. Recently, I have been walking for a .5 hour everyday. More recently, I have been able to go to a nearby pool and do leg stretching exercises, arm exercises and walking laps in the pool. I am not sure I am ready to try to swim. I might be able to but emotionally, I am not ready for that. I would hate to kick my legs ineffectively and sink to the bottom. The downside of the pool is they only have free swim on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. I wish they had a few more days open for it. The last thing I have done is sign up for membership at a new gym just around the corner from where I live. They open Jan 15th and they will have a pool area, as well. They will offer a therapy pool, which is just what I need. I can do my water exercises in warm water--YES! They don't know when the pools will be finished, though.

I was pretty surprised with what I could accomplish in the water. I could lift my legs up to the surface of the water and I was encouraged how low I could go w/ my splits. Also, I raised myself up from the pool and held my weight. It was good.

I went Friday and Sunday and since this past weekend was so very busy, I thought I would take Monday off from exercising. Boy, was that a mistake! I feel rotten! I can't read, my balance is really off, I feel so weak. I can't stay in any one position for very long, which means I can't lie in bed for very long. I guess I have to get rid of my laziness! Once I wake up, I guess I have to get up. I thought I could take one day off, I guess I have to exercise everyday. Push on and push through it.

One more gripe, if you have the time and inclination to hear. I can't wait to get rid of my walker. I hate the thing right now. :Tantrum: And, no thank you, I don't want a cane. I am grateful for all the things I am able to do, I just want to get rid of the walker. Thanks for listening. LK
