No one will believe it.

biggrin.gif I have a neighbor - he's a retired marine.

He's nuts.

He's not the kind of "shoot your neighbors -kill the democrats" nuts, but, he's close. You've read my story about the Christmas lights. He still has his lights up.

He also has red, white and blue flamingo's in his yard. Next to the life size sculpture of an eagle - well lighted of course -with it's wings extended. In front of his 8 foot flag pole.

Flying the American flag -of course.

Well, he didn't have to go to work today. So now, when I go out my backdoor, I get to hear patriotic songs. He's wired speakers outside, and he's spent all day doing it.

The Christmas lights are still up. We still have 7" of frozen snow on the ground. BUT he's ready for the fourth of July.

Did I mention he decorated his back patio in red, white and blue? No one in their right mind will believe me, so I intend to take a picture this weekend and post it in the gallery.

I'm not complaining - it's his yard, he can do what he wants with it. But, does he REALLY need the life size "Uncle Sam" wind toy posted in the ground to let me know "He's proud to be a American".

I can hear it blasting on the speakers - and all I can say is "I live next door to a nut."

I really want to go next door and ask "Who's the brain damaged one in the neighborhood?" but, that would be rude.

I think you'll agree with me when you see the pictures. You won't believe me otherwise, I don't believe it myself. And I thought I was nuts.

Ok, this is time to have some fun. I know some retired marines, and they are fun to screw with.

Whenever you see him outside blast the marine hymn on your stereo. Out of instinct he will jump to attention.

If you can wait.....wait until he falls asleep, and blast revely on your stereo. That'll wake him up way to early.

have fun;

Michael

At least life is never "Ho-Hum" in your neighborhood! Vicki, embrace the diversity of living in the US of A! I think you should ask him where he got the life size Uncle Sam and get me one. Or get one yourself, if you can't beat em, join em. Ha!

Ok - my girlfriend and I snuck up on the backyard, in broad daylight no less - she came to "steady me" as there's a slope between the yards and I have this great fear of falling. We had intended to take digital pictures and run back to post them.

Then Sandra spotted the barbeque grill.

It's personalized! - "TR's Big Cooker" is emblazzoned on it with those fancy diffraction letters that you can get at the hardware store.

Sandra gets the giggles so hard I'm sure the whole neighborhood is going to come out and see what's happening. She falls into the table on the patio and knocks over "TR's Little Cooker".

By now, I'm about to pee in my pants. Two 40 something year old women beside themselves with laughter. Skulking around a neighbors back yard

She snorted "what do you think He calls it?" and I fell down, literally. "What does his wife call IT?" I replied.

We had to hold each other up all the way back to my house. I didn't get pictures but, we're going to try tomorrow when he's at church.

God, I feel like I'm 13 again! - lol

hey vicki,

I believe it. i've seen similar before. there's a man who owns a house on a few acres in rural alabama. since the 1960's he's been adding various sizes, styles and designs of crosses to his yard. at the last report he had OVER 10, 000 crosses along with NUMEROUS signs warning of doomsday.

at first people ( neighbors) complained, but now it's considered a landmark. it's a regular tourist attraction. he lights it up at christmas too. it's pretty weird. at LEAST he's not my next door neighbor

i hope your neighbor's yard doesn't turn into a landmark!!!!! lol
