Neurologist

We took Tootie to the neurologist last week (10.16). The neurologist upped Tootie's Topamax from 2 25mg tablets a day to 1 25 mg tablet in the am and 2 25 mg tablets in the pm. Tootie is now experiencing new seizures in addition to her Infantile Spasms. We keep hoping she will outgrow the spasms but so far, she has not. The neurologist also put Tootie on 1 ml of Prozac. I am truly ambivalent about that decision

Yolie,

I'm sorry to hear that Taylor' medication has increased. Try not to be too disheartened she still very well may outgrow them. Keep hoping and we'll all keep praying. She's far too young to discount that she hasn't outgrown them.

Love,

Maria

Yolie,

Mria is so right in that Taylor is so young to be considered as to needing these meds for a long time. She is doing so so well, try to keep focused on her advancements and not on an increase in meds for a condition she'll hopefully outgrow.

love and (((hugs))) to you all

Maria and Donna, thanks for your encouraging words. The neurologist has no idea why Tootie is still having spasms. Tootie is her oldest patient with these types of seizures. When Tootie first had her strokes, she had over 300 a day. Tootie now only has them upon awakening and sometimes she doesn

hey Elondie:

I will keep Tootie in my prayers for outgrowing her seizures. I used to be anxious about depression medicine too but they were lifesaver for me. it reduced my anxiety & crying. after being on them for couple of years I weaned myself off them. just wanted to tell you there is nothing wrong with these medicines if they are helping. but being gurdian angels of Tootie you need to keep eye on it's reaction on Tootie. I hope and pray you find solutions to all Tootie's problems.

Yolie,

You are not being a downer dear, you're a concerned Grandma as we're concerned cyber Aunties. We all have up days and down days even without stroke being involved. If someone is up 24/7 then they might not be too human or their meds are working double time.

Learn all you can as knowledge is power. Hope Taylor adjust to the new med quickly. For me, since July I've been on Celexa; when first on it, I was tired and groggy for about a week. Her dosage may need adjusted as well. Many times with antidepressants the first med isn't the right one. We all react differently to medications.
