Anybody read the Stimulus Plan Online Yet?

With so "much to do" about this plan that has caused so much debate, I wanted to know what the members here thought of it as far as "How it will help us."

I have not found the web site yet, I tried three time, I gave up! Anyway I think in my case being a disable veteran I get a lump payment and a break on my disability pay each month by $13.00 and a tax break on my wages at Walmart. Maybe a break on my short term disability pay now.

ANYWAY do you all think it will help the disability people here. I put this in my Blog to keep down confusion about discussing Politics on this site. I feel it is a plan by our Government and how it affects us. Not political in nature.

I do want to read all 1000 pages on the internet!!! :yadayada: :Typing:

OK, probably no one besides me is even interested in this Stimulus thing, but I think this is the site below:

Fred,

I received an email about it and it ain't no stimulus plan. It is a spending plan. Get ready for your taxes to go up. It's only a trillion dollars, after all.

From what I understand, none of the people voting on this had a chance to read it before they voted.

Fred.

The web pages seem to be coming. Here are two that I know about:

http://financialstability.gov/

and

http://www.recovery.gov/

They both do not have much data yet, but have hopes of more in the future (LOL) plus they both have links to interesting stuff.

I would be a bit careful about where I get my info. Note both of these end in gov so they are official US govt sites.

VI,

I think at my age they will not get much of my taxes but Lord have mercy on my great grand kids, they will be repaying China for most of their lives.

Lin,

I posted about the same time you posted your sites. They email me from the Caucus, I went through a tiny bit of it in pdf format. It's in 4 different sections and it's Official. there is a 1000 pages plus notes. I bet it still hasn't been read from front to back by any congressman yet. They are probably at home drunk by this time on Sunday making up for the nights they spent working on this plan.

I'm glad you posted this Fred, and I'll be looking forward to reading your further comments and comments posted by others. Don't be looking for anything insightful to come from my end. I wanted to just let you know that I'm interested. This is an example of one of those types of issues that, since my stroke, bogs my brain down and I get lost in the confusion. I want so much to form an opinion. My brain hangs on for dear life while I listen to the news and the commentaries, but the "yeah, buts..." come so fast and furiously that they all may as well be speaking in tongues, and that's no joke. I get so mad and frustrated with myself. I'll listen to a Democrat and think "That's a good point, I agree!" but 2 seconds later I can listen to a rebuttal from a Republican and think "Good point!". It seems that the only thing I don't have trouble understanding is that it's one heck of a lot of money and it scares me. So once again, I'm glad you posted this. Even though I probably won't be commenting, I will be reading!

I will definitely read through it this week. The current economy is one that I have never experienced in my life time. My husband has been doing mortgages for a national bank for many, many years. He has always refused to do the Option 4 loans which got so many folks in trouble. I do believe that Option 4, interest only, and etc. were loans that many people should definitely not have done. These loans and subprime loans are what started the whole downward spiral. He is still doing mortgage loans today and busy due to referrals, refis, and especially first-time home buyers.

If he hadn't been honest and really explained terms to buyers, I don't think he would have a job in today's market.

While I may not agree with all of the things in the stimulus bill, I know that something had to be done to get the economy moving again. If I understand it correctly from my end, I will see a $300

lump sum payment. There are so many folks out of work right now. I have a brother-in-law who lost his job six months ago after being with a company for 25 years,

hi fred,

well, something had to be done. i think this is geared more towards families and tax cuts. i am still steaming over the bailout package that the bush admin passed...that has literally no way of accounting for the use of our tax dollars. now, it is up to our current president to monitor that whole mess and still get our economy going. i have read some of the highlights and don't see any big help for folks on ssdi like myself. there is mention of a one time $260 payment for social security receipents....that is all i saw. i don't even pretend to understand how this package will work. i trust our president but am throughly *beep* off by the partisan politics that are going on when our nation is in crisis.

my blood pressure is going up.....lol kathy

Kathy,

There are mentions of lump sum payouts for several categories of people. I wonder about the same person in two or more of those categories if they get paid in each or maybe just one?

That's why I am interested in trying to read that part if not all of it.

This part of the bill will help my Tootie and other special needs children as well:

"Overall, the bill will provide a major increase in special education funding, including $12.2 billion for IDEA." :cheer:
