I echo your comments regarding Jan's first walk on pavement in five years. What an accomplishment (and a lot of guts)!

I am so thankful those doctors were wrong about what you were going to be able to do! I think there was a higher power at work along with your determination. I will never forget that day in the hospital when the rehab gal wanted to see you walk prior to making a decision regarding whether or not to send you to a rehab place where there was more extensive therapy. When you got up on your feet and took those steps, and then off you went without her. I don't know what that distance was but you literally amazed the entire staff that day including the doctor. Then when they told you didn't qualify to go there, I thought Deb was going to go right down the nurse's throat until she said: "The only thing you qualify for is to go home!" There have been many days like that sense that day where you have literally wowed us all! Keep it up and don't you ever quit! You WILL regain it all. Just not in one day!

I read Jan's blog too and commented on it to her. While I was elated for her accomplishment and became emotional about it for her; there was something else that jumped out at me about what her granddaughter did while walking with her. Did you notice what Jan said about how the child was walking like her to keep her from feeling like she was walking funny. Wow! what a lesson for us adults.
