11-11-11 VETERANS DAY

11-11-11 is Veterans Day this year and it happens to be a Friday. I salute all our veterans whom have given their all...THEIR LIVES. We shall honor our Veterans whom are still at war fighting for our rights to remain a free country. The brave men and women of the Armed Forces deserve our thank you on this day each year and really every day of the year.

We have many veterans here on this site whom have retired but was stricken by stroke. Some with other medical conditions in need of all our prayers, well wishes and thoughts! Lets remember those that were survivors but have also crossed over to be with our Father in heaven.

Here in my town many of the restaurants are offering one free meal ALL DAY to Active Duty service members and those retired veterans too! Any family members will have to pay of course. There are drawings at certain car dealerships to give away an automobile to the lucky Veteran winners both active duty or retired! I don't have the luck to even enter my name in those drawings so I'll wait to see the winners on TV news that night.

This is a day, 11-11-11 that happens only once a century and with that in mind anyone born in 1911 will be celebrating their 100th birthday. There has to be at least a couple in that category. People are living longer now so I bet we have someone right here in my town!

We should have a few birthday member celebrating their birthdays too and we know there are some being born in hospitals around the world. Some of them will become veterans in their own times.

Again I salute all my fellow veterans on this day and we thank them all for their service to their country...SALUTE... :Clap-Hands:

Fred! Also a retired Veteran!!!

Thanks to both of you and anyone else who is a vet. I have worked for the Department of Veterans Affairs for 26 years. I work at the local VA hospital. Vets are unique in their needs and who they are. They deserve everything we can give and then some. I am a nurse and have proudly taken care of our vets one way or another. The staff we have feel the same way. We care about the vets, not the politics surrounding us. We do what we need to to get the job done.

Freedom is not free!

My thanks to you Fred for serving our country and to others who have done so as well. There are restaurants here offering free meals to vets also. On TV this morning they showed a photo of a young girl who turned 11 years of age. How about that?

Fred,

Thank you for serving and helping this country to stay free. I served in the Navy during Desert Storm. I wish I could have stayed in further but had too many health problems and now there is no way I can go back in because my son needs me to be here for him and help him continue to recover from his stroke. My daughters school is doing a program for all us vets and my son will be singing as well!!!!!

Thank you all for your comments. I am happy to have served for 22 years. I know my mom prayed daily for my return. I was wounded but came home. I have been diagnosed with PTSD now and my heart goes out to the 58,000 plus that gave their all, their lives, for all of us to remain in a free country.

Veteran Day means so much to me and I still have night mares frequently. Being here at Fort Hood seeing the young soldiers return alive and dead is hard to bear as I get older. My only son is there right now and I'm praying he returns by years end as the commander and chief has said the troops will be home!

Fred!
