bathroom woes......

Wm and I have been out twice running errands and we have had bathroom problems.

Monday, I told William that he had to come with me while I had the truck inspected.. That time of year again. Next, I went and had the tires checked and filled with air. I am lack in doing that job. They were low. I should do that every 3 months.

Next , i decided that a trip to the store would be good. Wm wanted some cookies.

I get back to the car and Wm announces that he needs to go to the bathroom. I know that this is not good. I tell him that I will be home in 10 minutes. Well, that was too long. That miralax just works too well.

Directly into the shower with William. I wash him off and clean the bathroom and throw the laundry upstairs in the washer.

Next, I have to go to the truck and clean it.

and then bring in the groceries.

Tuesday, I decided that we will go to the pool and then out to eat. William and I are both starving.

Same thing as soon as we are done and in the car. Wm announces that he needs to go to the bathroom. Again. ....I say, we will be gome shortly. But, again, he could not make it. That darn miralax. No miralax for the next 2 days.

Wm, goes directly into the shower. Same routine. Clean up and laundry and clean the car. But, this time somebody parked in my spot. directly infront of our house. I had to double park and bring Wm into the house. Just another break in our routine.

Wm says "maybe I shouldn't go out anymore." I said "Nonsense. We took care of the problem. Next, time I will have you use the restroom before we leave the restaurant. I will remember.

Those little incidents ...do make for alot of extra work. that meant 2 showers each day for William. He had just had a shower before we had started running around.

But, i did get the truck inspected and the groceries bought.

I told William that I was thinking of getting rid of the truck. He says that he is going to need it. So, I guess that i will continue to keep it. Just to keep his hopes up.

William is dreaming of pot roast. I have left instructions for the caregiver to fix him a nice pot roast for dinner.

Let's see how today works out. I have a long day at work. 8a to 6P. William willl have to get along with the caregiver for 10 hours.

Ruth, Will he allow you to put the pull-ups on him on the days you have to get out?? That along with a toss-away pad on the car seat would save you an awful lot of cleanup just in case he had to go and couldn't make it to a bathroom in time. I sometimes use the puppy pads on the car seat if Gary hasn't gone before we go out somewhere, but usually it's just a case of needing the urinal for him and we always carry one of those in the van and a few plastic cups that I can toss when he's finished.

Yikes, Ruth that is a lot of work for you. Poor William. He usually does so well. I don't have that problem, but Larry wants the extra protection just in case, so on go the Depends when we go to church, etc.

I have been taking him with me on errands today as well. I had to pick up his prescription and took him along. We go to the drive up to pick it up. Then I stopped at Walgreens and he stayed in the car. I said I need to get something for dinner and milk and he stayed in the car again. It's easier for me as I can run in and out. I told him sometime he will have to go grocery shopping with me.

That is a long day to work Ruth. Hope you get some rest.

Ruth, I keep a supply of disposible pads in the car and house. I long ago started making sure Dick had one to sit on in the car and upholstered furniture. It has saved me from a lot of clean ups. That Mirilax can do too good of a job at times! I learned to give Dick half doses which helped. Dick also found Depends worked well when we went out even before he needed them full-time. I keep spare pull-ups and adult wipes in the car all the time as well. Ruth

I keep a urinal in my car, I get out anyplace open the back door stand on the ground with the door behind me and use the urinal. Then I pour it out right there close the door get back in and continue my way! I have had to quit taking the HTZ every day I think it finally made me go quicker than usual!

Ruth: I can imagine how tough this is when you are not used to it. Like Julie and Ruth, Bruce's problem was always with urine. He has IBS, so I pray for BMs-lol. We always did the pads, wipes, urinal, pant and Depends change in the car and the truck. Altho things have so much improved, they are still there. I only recently removed the pads from his seat for most jaunts, as he no longer soaks through-thank God.

Probably a fluke and I agree on the half dose of Miralax, but you know just as well. I would hate for him to go the other way because he did not get it.

I can imagine poor William. He must have been devastated and good for you on your reaction, regardless of the frustration of some idiot parking in your place. I always pray or count to ten, so that I don't end up blaming Bruce for my frustration. Thank you for the reminder.

Hope they left you some pot roast! Sounds good. Bruce got buy one get one free last week, so maybe we will do that tomorrow in the crock pot. Thank you William.

Go easy honey, those long days after your past two will be tiring. Maybe some down time tomorrow. Good weekend, Debbie
