Prayers Answered

For those of you who missed Chat last night or had problems with the server, quick update.

My appointment with my PCP about my back issues is tomorrow. MRI was Saturday and I picked up a copy of the report on Monday. Since it went to the Walk-in Clinic I originally went to, I faxed it to my PCP and then got on-line. Can't take the nurse out of the picture-lol. With my list and some help from others here, have my questions all set for that.

In answer to my prayers, our caregiver Jen called yesterday. She is back in town for two weeks before starting a new job in Arizona. She will be the low man on the totem pole and knew that she will not be getting a lot of time off in the next year and with the trip 12 hours, even a day or two wouldn't do it. Her family is all here in Connecticut and she hasn't seen them in the 10 weeks since she relocated.

In the meantime, this gives her the opportunity to make some money and visit with family and friends. She will be back at our SNF for that time. She also spoke with Cathy, who told her what was going on with me. Jen called to say she was on board for anything I needed. She will be taking Bruce to the pool or jaunt and also willing to give the house a good cleaning.

I have been stressing about this for over a month now. And yes, it is temporary, but will get me through what I have to do for me, get Bruce out and to the pool, plus the house cleaning. Bruce was so excited just talking to her on the phone. I did not realize how much he missed her. Jen is also going to try to get someone else on board for some daytime hours off for me. I officially took over responsibility for the Estim bike today, so now all Bruce's therapy is on me. We pay a small amount per month to be allowed to use the pool and equipment, but it is all on me or a trained caregiver until the next round of professional PT-OT is ordered.

Bruce is coming down with a cold so we are banging the Vitamin C. He recovers pretty quick, but we have a crazy next week-most of it continues to be celebration of his birthday-and I just hope he will be OK for all of that.

So good news all around and will let you all know the outcome of the MD appointment. Debbie

Hostsue here, just wanted to say how pleased I am those prayers have been answered. Jen back is good news, she is at least a temporary break for you and a gee-up for Bruce with the pool etc.

Debbie, you do so much and I admire the way you do it, make sure everything is doable and then you have an edge in case there is an emergency.

I hope Jen can find someone else to join your team and give you a way of resting from time to time - we all need that break.

Sue.

That's great Debbie and I hope your back situation improves greatly because a back problem is no fun thing. That's why I had to retire from the Army. The thing about back problems is it don't go away it forever nags you year after year. The last three nights I had to put on patches just to get some sleep. For me there is no cure just temporary fixes! I suppose growing up very poor not having proper foods and milk until I joined the Army my bones were very weak. On top of that I got arthritis super bad in knees and back!

Debbie,

That is good news. Everyone needs help sometime, but, it's been my experience ;that most survivors don't like asking for help. I'm glad the ppl around you are sensitive to your needs. Never give up!

Debbie,

Yea, Jen is back for a short time. I am so pleased to hear that Bruce is so happy. This just lets you know that he really enjoys the water therapy.

Just take care of yourself.
