Heart Surgeon Update

I saw the surgeon today for a follow-up appointment who did my bypass. He was very pleased and said in six months I should feel five years younger. and in a year even better! He said my heart muscle is in remarkably good shape for what it's been through and with the arteries unclogged (bypassed) it should be fine. Still no heavy lifting (like I was going to anyway) but to start light exercise like walking. At first a quarter mile and increase it until I can do two miles a day.

He asked if I noticed any stroke set backs and I told him only some increased spasticity from not being able to use my arms. I can resume that but no lifting. He said that it isn't uncommon for people who have had stroke to have a stroke during bypass surgery but they did several extra precautions and monitored my brain-waves during the surgery. He said at one point my brain-waves were a bit abnormal but resolved quickly. He didn't think I had a stroke but wondered about a small seizure. If there was one neither he nor I can see any residuals from it,

He was very happy with my recovery so far and said patients who do as well as I have "Make him look good" and that I have to start wearing a sign around my neck that says Dr Griffith was my surgeon.
