Bad, bad weather here
We had warnings of severe storm warnings yesterday which could mean anything from rain, tornados, high winds and hail. Luckily, we only got the rain and high winds. Our kids, unfortunately, got the hail damage. Both of our sons live in apartment complexes and had their car windows blown out and hail damage on the car. The hail was golf ball and softball size! The insurance will cover some but they still have the deductibles to meet, which they really cannot afford either. Larry's daughter manages an apartment complex and she said there was hundreds of thousands of damage. She missed getting her car hit, but had to go back to the complex to help with repairs etc., so we didn't see her today as planned.
One storm came after the Cardinal's game downtown. People were in a restaurant's bar/tent celebrating the Cardinal victory, when high winds knocked it down and several were injured including one fatality. Hundreds of cars were damaged later as their was a hocky game later.
My son came over yesterday before the storms and helped clean out the basement. He helped me bring Larry downstairs so he could go through his books and other things from his previous employment. We were able to throw out a bunch of stuff. We kept his books of course. I had a lot of paint my son went through and he decided which to keep. This was a big help!
Friday I took Larry to the otologist for his ear wax removal. He had a lot of wax in one ear. Tomorrow we go to the audiologist for comprehensive testing and ordering new hearing aids. I'll let you know how that goes as some of you have asked. The Dr. said a lot of these audiologists are subsidized by hearing aid companies. They will take them to lunch and cater to them to get their business. He had a lot of praise for the one we go to now so I guess we lucked out.
We go to the Engineering Technology Reunion Thursday. This is the retiree group Larry was a part of before his retirement there. He is looking forward to seeing everyone. One of his friends/co-workers comes in from Austin, TX where he and his wife live. I hope it goes well.
