WELL YOU KNOW WHEN I FIRST GOT HOME FROM THE HOSPITAL, I COULDN"T ROLL OVER IN MY BED,without getting stuck or without hurting my arm, but now since i have creating my own kind of exercize and doing it over and over again and again i am now able to roll over onto my stomack and onto my left side and now it has gotten so easy to do that i have forgotten tjust how hard it was so i know that i am getting better all the time just by doing exercize while laying in the bed just start by streaching your muscle in your arms and your back over and over and before you know it you will be sleeping on your left side and stomack all the best to you in your recovery

It sure does make having sex with your care giver much, much easier and I bet you ain't gonna stop stretching no time soon?? I had that exercise in therapy every time I went for 8 years on the bench they have you lie down and turn either way you can! Then you have to sit and balance on that big ball while moving your feet to stay balanced or you'll roll off the ball!

My wife tells me I always pull the sheet or covers off her but with no feelings on my left side I can't tell the covers are being moved! sometimes I'm on my back, side but never my stomach! It feels like I'm breaking my neck sleeping on my stomach!

We just purchased a new mattress set with memory foam, pillows too so we are breaking it in right! Oh, you want to be on the right side of the bed as you are looking at the headboard when your left side is the weak side!! That way your left arm is next to her and you can roll over and hold her with your good arm, he, he, it works every time!!!

Lenny,

Amazing. You just astound me.

Maybe, one day William will be able to sleep on his side or stomach.

I can do it, but it's not easy or comfortable. Thanks for posting your success. I'll work on my rolling some more. I'd love to sleep on my left again.

Lenny: the first time Bruce got on his stomach, it too six of us and six to get him back. Bruce was a stomach sleeper, prestroke. Mostly because he read in bed every night. That day, we got him onto a wedge and he promptly fell asleep-lol.

When we ditched the hospital bed and went back to our own bed, I purchased side rails, which Bruce's Godson installed for us. Bruce was still impulsive and while I did not use them often, there were a few times I was so happy I did it.

Haven't used them in a "up" position in two years, but I kept them on because Bruce uses them to grab on to get up from the bed into a sitting position, push up to get into the WC and started to pull himself over onto his affected right side to sleep. He actually holds onto it while sleeping. But since his is resting on his right arm splint, that is usually only for an hour or so. Bad nights, he takes off the splint and gets back up onto his right side.

His biggest thing lately, is having his feet tied up in the covers. Part of that is resolved in that I make the bed not tucked in at the bottom. So he can now get over onto his left side by himself. The bed is a Queen and he obviously can't reach over me for the bed rail on my side. He kicks up the covers to release his feet himself. He is slowly working towards that stomach sleeping again, but where that leaves me is still unknown-lol. Thank you so much for the suggestions. Debbie
