Rainy Days and Mondays...............

Well, in this case, the rain doesn't get me down as we really need the rain. Our lawn was starting to dry. I love summer but hate the bugs. The Japanese Beatles have returned and they are on all of my shrubs, flowers and especially on our big Japanese Maple tree. Ugh! I will spray after this rain is over. I noticed another bird's nest in one of our crepe myrtle trees and saw a little head peeping out. I finally discovered it was a baby Cardinal's nest as the mama flew around it to let me know the other morning. I won't be spraying that one I guess. I would love to see the baby birds tho. I can't put any wreaths out on the front or hanging baskets as they love our house.

Last Friday my son called and said he could come over and do our gutters and other chores. I was going to take Larry to the rehab center but we never refuse help, so we went later. My late first husband's college friend calls from year to year, and we discovered his son now lives nearby. He called again Friday and said they would be over for their grandson's ballgame and asked if they could come over. I hadn't seen him or his wife in over 25 years. Larry didn't know them but he participated in the conversation and we had a nice visit. He and his wife live in Illinois about 1 1/2 hrs. from here. After they left, Larry said "they are nice people".

Dave mentioned someone Larry might know from the company he worked for and Larry said yes, he knew him, and Larry use to see him at the Y when he went. Dave had gone to high school with the guy. Small world! You wonder how many people you pass on a day to day basis whether or not they have a connection to you.

The weather has been warm lately and other than quick trips here and there, like exercise and church, we stayed in. It cooled early in the evening and I sat out and read. I tried to get Larry to sit out but he wouldn't budge. I turned the AC off and enjoyed the open windows for a change. Our anniversary is tomorrow (19) although we knew each other years before. Larry had mentioned last week that we should go out to eat. I didn't know if he would follow through but today he said "why don't we go to Yellowstone Cafe for dinner. This coming from a man who doesn't like to eat out!! Of course, I jumped on that. I just wish he would eat more. I had weighed him again and he has lost more weight. We see the internist next week but I think he has run out of tests and suggestions.

Larry is trying the Saeboflex again to see if his fingers will give more movement. He wil see his rehab Dr. for more Botox but this time the OT recommended not to have it in his hand and forearm.

This will be about his 7th or 8th treatment for Botox.

I was having some bad shoulder and neck pain but waited a couple weeks before calling the Dr. When I finally called, the staff didn't return the call until the next day. Then, I learned the Dr. was on her way to a two week vacation. The medical assistant got a script from her for therapy before she left for where ever. I couldn't get in until this Friday for an eval. So that would be another week. Now the pain is better so I will just forget it. Maybe I can get a massage instead. lol

Hope you are all enjoying your summer. Sue, hope you get some nice days in yet.

Julie: Happy Anniversary. Nice way to spend it and I am so happy Larry remembered and wanted to celebrate.

Have you tried those Japanese Beetle hanging bags? We don't have the infestation you have there, but I found they worked well for us.

I need a gutter, quick repair day. Will have to call Bruce's Godson. Mary Beth doesn't seem like she will be visiting any weekend soon. I did some back yard work this weekend and need to do the same in the front. Hopefully Bruce will be agreeable to getting outside again. I can leave him in the house, but as you know it will just be TV.

I agree with you. I will do most anything to avoid putting on the AC, but when you have to you have to. And it is really not about money. It is just that "shut in" feeling.

Good week, talk to you soon. Debbie
