Water Heater Drama/Abscessed Tooth Drama
I'm going to do a little catch up on my blog so I can find the info again later. The on-going insurance drama is still up in the air, and it is on the message board.
This happened yesterday:
Something has just happened, I can't believe it - miracle. Out of the blue, I got a call from whirlpool on the water heater (last out here to check their product in May). He said I he heard I was having water heater problems. I explained how we had a water heater that softened both cold & hot water, and had no problem with the old water heater. As soon as we put this one in, it was putting so much calcium into the plumbing that I had to remove the strainer every 3 minutes to keep it running, or leave the strainer off. I had had someone come & flush the heater and lines, and the first time I used the appliances, they were stopped up again. I told him how I couldn't get hot water into the washing machine and only had cold wash, and how I had to load the dishwasher water by hand, and how I finally shut off the breaker to the hot water heater, as it was pointless to keep paying electric to heat water I couldn't get thru the plumbing. FINALLY AN ANSWER! Not another person telling me I needed a whole house strainer (remember the cold works fine, just the water coming out of this heater). Not someone telling me I should be flushing it once a month (I was doing it everyday, in desperation, till I turned it off). I told everyone this heater is MAKING calcium, and guess what? I'm right! He said that water softerners attack the anode in the heater, and produce calcium. And while not part of the warranty, he was sending me a different anode for no charge - just have to pay to have it installed. I can't believe it, after months of living like a pioneer with cold water, I'm going to have hot water in the wash and dishwasher again! It is a miracle, I've been crying ever since the call.
This happened today:
I had a tooth abscess about 3 weeks ago, and have been in limbo, not knowing what to do about it, as the insurance is still up in the air. I finally went to the dentist today and had a root canal. I don't know if I'll have insurance for it or not, but I was going down, and couldn't put it off any longer. I always heard those were the next step to death, but it was easy. I was just going to g...
et it pulled, and knew others would follow, becoming one of those 'summer teeth' people (summer are there, summer are not), but he convinced me to save it. He was a great dentist, I recommend him (Hoover in the Tollgate Mall where Kroger is, in Oxford). I had been taking antibiotics we had around the house for backup when Bob traveled, but, my stomach is gone from it. Now I can soon go off that, and be out of pain. I had hoped the antibiotics would fix it, but he said they were just enough to keep it out of my blood stream, they would never have healed it. So, I'm feeling positive about it. Right now I have antibiotic temporary filling in it.
