Enjoyed a wonderful Christmas program
Our church goes all out at Christmas on services and special programs. Larry and I went to the Saturday afternoon program Silhouettes of Christmas. There was a screen stretched across the front of the church as big as a movie screen. The theme was acted out in back of the screen like shadows or silhouettes. There was a dance group from one of the universities, members of our church who are excellent vocalists, including one of the pastors, musicians, and a message from another pastor. It started with scenes of this beautiful world (The Creation), dancers acting out the Garden of Eden (Adam and Eve), all through to Mary and Joseph, the journey to Bethlehem and the birth of Jesus. One of the vocalists was a young boy who sang O Come, O Come Emmanuel and did so beautifully. The dancers spelled out JOY at one point and then JESUS. This was all done in 1 hour and Larry was clapping with his one hand on his lap. : ) We have other Christmas services but this was a special production. I'm so happy we were able to see this.
Larry had awakened yesterday morning with a red eye in left corner. I determined later that it was a broken blood vessel and called his eye doctor. I am watching it and asking if he has any trouble seeing. So far, so good.
I am down sizing everything slowly. I only baked one batch of cookies. I use to bake 4-6 batches of different kinds. Last year we got cookies from other people and my daughter is bringing some too. The kids bring dishes, but they always want the same thing, and a lot of them are picky about what they eat. Next year I may just do appetizers and dessert! I am getting a smaller tree next year so that I can bring it up from the basement myself, and I will put on fewer ornaments. I have some from every place we went on vacation plus a few old favorites. I downsized my lights outside also. lol
Larry helped with signing and getting the Christmas cards out. Those too are fewer. What really counts anyway! Less is best for us now.
Our local fire department brings Santa around our neighborhood for the kids every year. The kids can get their picture taken and get candy. No horse drawn carriage tho. HO HO HO
I wish all of you a Merry Christmas and hope you have a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year.
Julie
