the transfer and new hospital
the transfer went pretty smooth, i remember this ambulance ride a little better than the first, and the trip through the new hospital while they were lost and trying to find the right building and floor, valley med being a much larger hospital than el camino, i'm thinking that tour through the hospital is the reason the ambulance bill for the hospital to hospital transfer was twice as expensive as the trip from my car to the er.... i felt a lot less invisible at the new hospital right from the start, they let me wear my glasses for one thing, introduced themselves so that i didn't feel i was being cared for by anonymous strangers, they even put the annoy-the-nurse button on the side i could feel and move, amazing concept that hadn't occurred to anyone at the other place... even the dr's introduced themselves to me, imagine that!!! one day in the new intensive care and the moved me to "neurological observation" wow, nurses that actually laughed at my jokes, i might be able to handle this place, now if they'd stop being so bathroom obsessed and asking me constantly about needing to go - what do they expect, i'm not eating or moving, why would i need to go ? but more about that obsession later (unfortunately, it was a recurring theme....) i guess it was obvious i was feeling more alert cause the first thing i asked for was my laptop, of course, even when it was approved and my friend brought it, i couldn't sit up or get into a position to use it yet;but oh well, i figured i may never be able to do anything else ever again;but i *will* figure out how to get online - its all about priorities, lol
next - on to the next unit, 3-center and the start of therapy, recovery and hope....
