We have had a few tough nights. I'm not used to being up in the middle of the night since the kids where little. Chris has had alot of pain lately - I don't know if its because of the therapy and his arm and leg being moved alot or what the reason is. Several times he said his foot felt like it was on FIRE!!!!!!!!!!

On Friday when the visiting nurse came we had talked about the time he was on the pain patch. He is taking Percocet every 4 hours to control his pain but it also makes him sleep constantly. So the nurse had called his doctor, got the pain patch for him and since it was applied the amount of Percocet that he is taking has really been decreased.

Tonight seems to be one of those bad nights. Chris is dreaming and calling out in his sleep - and of course he is calling for me. Its 1:30am and this now has been the 3rd time since 10:30pm that I have had to walk down the steps and talk to him to reassure him that everything is alright.

This evening when I gave him his eveing medicine, I had so much trouble getting him to open his mouth. Then he separated his lips but kept his teeth clenced. No matter what I said to him I couldn't get him to separate his teeth. Our daughter was sitting in the living room and she heard the problem I was having and she suggested for me to have Chris say Ahhhhhhh! every time I wanted to put a pill in his mouth. And IT WORKED!!!!!!!!! I don't quite understand why he was having a problem with this tonight.

I read a good passage today that really hits home:

When the wind blows hard on a tree, the roots stretch and grow the stronger. Let it be so with us. Let us not be weaklings, yielding to every wind that blows, but strong in spirit to resist.
