getting taste of empty nester

We dropped our son to his pre collage summer course at Brown University. I am still trying to build new routine with just two of us. thank god for my exercises & my other household duties I don't have time to feel depressed about empty home. I guess he trained us well. we both felt this will give all of us good flavor of how college will be next year. hubby was eager to drop him & leave, they both were eager to push & ready to fly except me who wanted to make sure he flies off from the cliff & not plummet to ground. S o life goes on. Every day is different. while going to drop him off to college I was so thankful for what I can still do & being able to walk & not depend on any one for anything is the biggest blessing of all it makes life easier for all involved in my life's journey. I can not help in carrying luggage but atleast pack it for him & be there to drop it off. I was reading Sue's blog & I can so identify with how people think when they think now that you have retired you have all the time to do what they want versus whether you WANT to do. it took my mom longest time to understand that & I don't think she will ever forgive me but oh well I will survive but I am going to follow our spiritual teaching that do the right thing without worrying about what others think, as long as you are doing right thing thats what matters. hope you all are having great summer.

Hi Asha, I know it was hard dropping off Junior, when we dropped Thomas off, we helped un pack him, set up his Tv, radio, and desk, my husband said it was time to go, I fought the tears back as I got into the car. We are mom and my husband says there is nothing like a Mother's love! like I always tell you Asha, you and hubby brought him up the right way, now it is time to watch his fly, and know that he be fine.

You enjoy your summer

Now you can get your sex life back too for your husband now that your son is off to college!!! And the cooking chores won't be the same either since you'll be eating less and cooking outside on the BBQ grill more often starting for the 4th holiday eat out!!!

Asha: very tough to do, but really I know you are so excited for him and his new journey. You will love taking this trip with him.

Our Britt was five hours away and did not come home much, but she messaged and called often. And it is truly wonderful watching them grow and figure out who they are.

Things will develop for you - that I know. Debbie
