WELL, I JUST GOT NOTIFIED THAT MY 50TH HIGH SCHOOL REUNION IS IN TWO YEARS. I WENT TO MY TWENTY FIFTH, AND HALF THE PEOPLE THERE SEEMED OLD THEN. MY WIFE GRADUATED ONE YEAR BEHIND ME, SO WE KNOW MANY OF THE SAME PEOPLE. IT SHOULD BE AN EXPERIENCE.

I HAVEN'T BEEN BACK TO MY HOMETOWN, UTICA, NEW YORK, IN 12 YEARS. IT'S SORTA DEPRESSED THERE AND MOST EVERYBODY WE KNEW MOVED AWAY. SO, I'VE GOT 2 YEARS TO GET MY LEFT KNEE BENDING MORE SO I CAN DANCE?

50 YEARS! WHERE DID THE TIME GO?

Marty, if you think the people at your 25th looked old, just wait until you see them + 25 more years.

Went to my 50th college reunion last year and at 50 years you are iniated into the Old Timers Society. The evening was lovely with a wonderful meal at a country club (all gratis) but I've

never seen so many decrepited people. Wheelchairs, walkers, canes and me you name it - even a seeing eye dog. Aging does not seem pretty but---of course that was them, not me. After all, we were the babies of the group roflmao.gif

WELL MARTY,

YOU MAY FEEL OLD FOR A REASON!!!! uhm.gif FIFTY YEARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! MY 25TH IS COMING UP AND I FEEL OLD TOO. yikes.gif

BUT YOU KNOW, "OLD" IS RELATIVE. WHEN PEOPLE SAY" YOU'RE ONLY AS OLD AS YOU FEEL", I SAY, WELL I CAN'T SAY IT ON HERE WITHOUT BEING EDITED!!!!! LOL....... WE AREN'T "OLD", MARTY", WE'RE MATURE, WISER, HAVE LIVED THROUGH MANY OF LIFE'S CHALLENGES AND MOST IMPORTANTLY............ WE ARE ALIVE TO TELL ABOUT IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DO I WANT MY 18 YEAROLD BODY BACK, YOU BETCHA. DO I WANT MY 18 YEAR OLD EMOTIONAL, IMMATURE, AND UNWISE CHARACTER BACK????........... NO WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I LIKE WHAT CHER SAID ONCE WHEN SOMEONE TOLD HER SHE DIDN'T LOOK FIFTY. SHE SAID "THIS IS WHAT 50 LOOKS LIKE". WHAT A WONDERFUL PERCEPTION. YOU AINT OLD FRIEND, YOU ARE "CHRONOLOGICALLY CHALLENGED"

Marty,

I blog alot about coming to terms with getting older. Don's stroke made us take off our rose colored glasses and see ourselves as sixty something people we are instead of the 40 something people we were previously seeing oursleves as. We were hard workers, burning the candle at both ends and now slowing down. One thing I've learned, when you start looking back over your life, is that there is nothing as good as the wisdom and humor and sense of true understanding of life that comes with age.

Have fun at your reunion. The older we get the less anyone cares about our physical appearances, our canes or any of that stuff. We just want to have a good time at these affairs and swap a few jokes. You'll be the hit of the ball.

As a photographer, we used to take many class reunion pictures. The big thing I noticed was that at the 10, 15, 20 year reunions there was still the catyness..the 'look at me and see how well I've done' attitude. The 25th + reunions everyone was more comfortable with themselves and they were passing around the kids and grandkids pictures saying,'look at them and see how well they've done'. The 50th reunions were everyone congratulating themselves for having made it so far(alive). So many of their fellow classmates had died and they were just glad to be alive! The 40th reunions were the roudiest groups...when they'd had a "happy hour" before we got there to take the pictures, they were loud and boisterous.

Don't know if this has helped....just my observations.
