New Mexico

Wow - didn't realize it was this long. I wanted to check in briefly. I retired in August and there have been many changes here at the shack - all good mind you.

Winter was horrid - as it was for all of us. I was so glad I found a reliable snow removal team, but also did not have to worry about making sure everything was safe for a caregiver to arrive and depart. I have to keep all the emergency exits to the house cleared, but it is on my schedule.

Spring took a long time to get here, but then a week of really warm and humid and WOW we are right back on schedule. Everything blooming. And I finally have time to take care of the yard.

Bruce is well. Loving me being home. We stick to our routine which works best for him.

But HUGE news. We are going to New Mexico first part of June. This is major, for me, as all of you who know me, understand. Awful lot of coaching from Colleen, Nancy and Julie. Yes, on a plane - LOL. I rented what I call a bungalow - the owners are terrific and it is all handicap accessible. They have had to make some adjustments since Bruce is R-sided affected. But the wonderful new is that they have been working with Bruce's College roommate, who lives in Albuquerque, about six miles from this bungalow.

It is very difficult to push Bruce over carpet. I don't want to be in the same hotel room, at 4am with no coffee, until room service is available and the TV on loud volume - incessant channel surfing. And I don't want to pray that someone is going to come up 10 flights of stairs to help us down in an emergency. I agreed to try this on my terms - LOL.

So big doings! I will update when we get back. Nancy advises that there will always be "drama" but one tries to keep the drama to a minimum.

Yes, travel is fun but takes some planning.  I am sure that you will both be fine. I agree with Nancy that there will always be "dramas" but they can be "adventures" too and make geat memories.too.

Debbie :

travel is scary but once you do it & plan it well, its lot of fun. BTW just go with flow let life unfolds in its own way & surprise you. I feel when you say yes to things outside of your comfort zone & let God take care of rest, you will be amazingly surprised  how things work out in your favor. so just enjoy & go with flow. do your best & then let the chips falls the way it supposed to be but believe whatever is happening right now is in your favor have faith in power bigger than yours.

Sandy: LOL - nailed it - exactly my thoughts. I am leaning towards Crazy!

Sue: started the staging area weeks ago - but I know I do not need the kitchen sink - there is one there - LOL

Asha: thank you for your kind thoughts. Unfortunately having someone sitting in urine up to his chest, in a closed public area who has to be transferred by strangers, there is not much prayer can do for me there. Just good planning, super advice from those who have done it with great success and trying to problem solve for our specific issues. And the beat goes on - LOL

Debbie, as I have found out from knowing you the past few years, you are ready for anything that comes along, and you handle it well.

I know you and Bruce will have a great time. Bruce is so lucky to have you.

 Enjoy your trip.

Will absolutely give a follow up. Onto the final stages of planning. My other two go-to neighbors will also be traveling at the same time - figures, LOL! But we are working out details for all of us. And hey! the clothing is decided and ready to pack.

I am so happy we allowed 5 weeks to prep for this! Rock on Ethyl - LOL
